Wasabi freezes up
Supersonic Stu busts his grandmother, Supersonic Sue, out of prison; at school, Professor Granville asks Wasabi, who fears public speaking, to sub for an absent teaching assistant.

Tropes in this episode include:

  • A Day in the Limelight: Wasabi has his in this episode. And unlike in the first three episodes with him in focus, he has the spotlight all to himself; and throughout the whole episode, as opposed to only the first half, and sharing it with someone else.
  • Bait-and-Switch: Wasabi's second day of teaching goes into a Good-Times Montage suggesting that he goes on to become a great teacher... but it turns out to be just in his head, as he freezes up again.
  • Boring, but Practical: Sue and Stu fight Big Hero 6 by Sue simply throwing Stu at them over and over again. GoGo points this out, with Sue stating that "not everything has to be rocket science".
  • Breaking Out the Boss: The episode opens on Supersonic Stu breaking out his grandmother Supersonic Sue.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Not only does Roddy have a pre-recorded message in case of abduction, he accounts for the possibility in his contract.
  • Cool Teacher: Wasabi becomes this when his third attempt to make it through the class goes well.
  • Deer in the Headlights: When Wasabi's initial plan of keeping his eyes on the floor fails, he freezes up in fear; Granville comes in, snapping him out of it, 6 hours after the class ends.
  • Did I Just Say That Out Loud?: When Krei talks about building bigger bots for the police, he didn't expect a cop to her him saying they'd be more expensive.
  • Dumbass Has a Point: Supersonic Stu suspects Wasabi of playing them when he immediately surrenders and offers to give the Supersonics the headquarters Big Hero 6 is using.
  • Dumb Muscle: Stu isn't too bright. When Sue decides they should head to her old headquarters, she sees it was replaced by a Noodle Burger location and Stu thinks the hideout is in the restaurant. Later, Rodney tries to pretend he's not himself and Stu apologizes for kidnapping the wrong guy. He even thinks being called "as smart as a bag of hammers" is a compliment.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Supersonic Stu's low intelligence annoys her, but Supersonic Sue clearly adores her grandson.
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": Wasabi introduces himself to his class as Wasabi rather than his real name.
  • Foreshadowing: Krei tells Chief Cruz he will build something big and expensive. At the end of the episode, it's revealed he's building giant robots for the police force.
  • Grievous Harm with a Body: Sue and Stu attack by Sue throwing Stu at her opponents.
  • Imagine Spot: Wasabi has one of becoming a successful SFIT professor.
  • Instant Humiliation Just Add Youtube: Fred live streams Wasabi's anxiety moments, for some reason. Twice!
  • Manchild: Supersonic Stu is definitely one. In fact, he is shown sucking his thumb in one scene.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Supersonic Sue only thinks of abducting Roddy after hearing Fred mentioning him.
  • Offscreen Teleportation: Granville calls Wasabi to substitute for her. Wasabi is turning her down and walking away, only to run straight into Granville, who is already in the room.
  • Rule of Three: It takes three attempts for Wasabi to succeed in teaching the class.
  • Silver Fox: In Wasabi's Imagine Spot, he's shown to retain his good looks in his elder years.
  • Slasher Smile: Supersonic Sue flashes one when she is about to shock Roddy just before commercial break.
  • Summon Bigger Fish:
    • Fred's method of dealing with Wasabi's stage fright is to overshadow it with an even worse fear, namely heights to the point they're on a very high building.
    • After the Buddy Bots latest failure, Krei designs bigger robots for the police to use.
  • The Tape Knew You Would Say That: When Roddy's pre-recorded message about him getting abducted is seen by Big Hero 6, Honey repeats "Abducted?" when he reveals this. Roddy then goes into detail about how this is an occupational hazard but his contract says that the heroes have to rescue him.
  • Troubled Fetal Position: Wasabi after being made to be a substitute teacher.
GoGo: Wasabi went into ball mode.
  • We Need a Distraction: Wasabi overcomes his fear of public speaking by bringing along Minimax to distract the crowd so he can concentrate on teaching. Later he uses this as part of his plan to get the Supersonics arrested.
