Recap / Beavis And Butthead S 10 E 27 Sleepover

Go To

Beavis and Butt-Head sleep over at Cody's house.

Tropes:

  • Actually Pretty Funny: Cody's parents find Beavis' use of the word "schlong" hilarious, particularly since it refers to a penis in an "age appropriate way."
  • Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: It's implied one reason Cody can't make friends is because his parents scare them off by trying to spend time with them.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Cody, their classmate who up until this point has only made quick cameos.
  • Borrowed Catchphrase: Cody's folks attempt to emulate Beavis' "Boioioioioioioing," say it badly, and without understanding what he means by it.
  • Dumbass Has a Point: While Butt-Head (wrongly) thinks the "Purity Sound Bath" video is some kind of song, Beavis correctly identifies it as just being a series calm and soothing sounds.
  • Exact Words: Much to Beavis and Butt-Head's ire, Cody invited them over not to play his video game, but to watch him play.
  • Funny Background Event: While Cody's mother and father talk about how much of a good influence they think Beavis could be on their son, he's running amok in the kitchen, messily devouring cereal and drinking coffee as he transforms into Cornholio.
  • Get Out!: Cody repeatedly tells the duo to get out of his house, but neither they nor his parents are willing to let that happen. At least not until they can play the video game in the boys' case, with Butt-Head openly saying they don't like the situation any more than he does.
  • Here We Go Again!: After the boys nearly knock each other out while watching "Purity Sound Bath," they once again face disagreement over whether or not the sounds are meant to be a song, reigniting the argument that caused their fight in the first place.
  • Honor Before Reason: Cody keeps mentioning how the duo can leave at any time, but they refuse to, until they can play the video game. By the episode's end, Butt-Head resorts to simply taking the device and booking it.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: The parents are oblivious to Beavis and Butt-Head's nastiness and think they're just two nice boys who've befriended their antisocial son, when the truth is both parties mutually detest one another. They don't even notice the mess Beavis causes when he becomes Cornholio. Then again, they don't appear aware of their own son's unpleasantness either.
  • Incoming Ham: When Beavis starts going hyperactive as he eats the mixture of sugary cereals and ice cream, it serves as a prelude to Cornholio's arrival. Lampshaded by Butt-Head when he says "This is gonna be cool."
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Beavis comes close to calling Cody a butthole to his parents. While not the kindest thing to say, he wasn't wrong; Cody is an insufferable and condescending jerk.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Cody hasn't been shown doing anything particularly bad in previous appearances, but he is regularly condescending to the duo, and in this episode, he invites them to his house just so he can make them watch him play video games instead of sharing, seemingly for no other reason than to be rude and insulting. After that, cue Cody's parents thinking Beavis and Butt-Head are a good influence on Cody while inviting them to stay the night to Cody's chagrin, the duo embarrassing Cody in front of his parents, and the duo walking off with Cody's video game console after Beavis transforms into Cornholio.
  • Made of Iron: Beavis as Cornholio gets run over by a car, but gets up just fine as if nothing happened.
Beavis/Cornholio: YOU WILL NOT DISRESPECT MY BUNGHOLE!
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: Beavis and Butt-Head beat each other up during the music video, with each mentioning how they've waited a long time to do it.
  • Self-Fulfilling Prophecy: Cody's parents want him to make friends, as he's an only child. Too bad they make things worse by being too open minded and forcing any friends he brings over to partake in mind numbing activities.
  • Slumber Party: Beavis and Butt-Head are essentially forced to have one by Cody's parents, even being given Cody's childhood pajamas to sleep in. Of course, they could leave at any time, but keep trying to stay in order to play the video game.
  • Wrestler in All of Us: At some point in their fight during the video reaction segment, Beavis executes a perfect DDT move on Butt-Head.
