Teaser: Atom and Batman defeat Bug-Eyed Bandit with the help of Aquaman.

Main Plot: Years ago, Katrina Moldoff, aka Batwoman, was publicly unmasked by the Riddler, ruining her superhero career. In present day, she enlists Felix Faust to swap her body with Batman so she can enact revenge. Now stuck as Batwoman, Batman must convince Batgirl and Nightwing of his true identity before Katrina can kill the Riddler.

Tropes included in this episode:

  • Accidental Hero: Riddler was in the process of using a computer hook-up to steal money from every bank account in Gotham. Katrina's attempted revenge inadvertently derails this attempt.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Batwoman (a.k.a. Katrina Moldoff) was hit especially hard with this. In the Silver Age, she was at worst a Girly Girl love interest who nevertheless saved Batman's life multiple times; here, she's a Heroic Wannabe who needlessly endangers civilians and eventually becomes a full-blown villain (with a good dose of Straw Feminist to boot). DC notably forbade the writers from using her comics identity of Kathy Kane.
  • Ambiguously Bi: Faust is undeterred by the revelation Batman was in Katrina's body judging by the Some Like It Hot reference at the end.
  • And I'm the Queen of Sheba: Batman's attempt to tell Nightwing and Batgirl about the body swap leads to this exchange.
    "Katrina": I'm Batman.
Nightwing: Right, and I'm the Joker. Nice to meet you.
  • Aside Glance: Batman's annoyed reaction to Felix Faust inviting himself along on this adventure.
  • Berserk Button: It's clear from the start that Batman had no love for Katrina's Heroic Wannabe behavior, but it's her brazen disregard for civilian safety that truly angers him. He promises to put an end to her mask-wearing career, if she doesn't knock it off.
  • Break the Haughty: Katrina is hit with this when Riddler unmasked her in public, putting an end to her superhero career.
  • Cane Fu: Riddler when deflecting batarangs thrown his way.
  • Combat Stilettos: The "Bat Lady" costume has these, which makes walking tricky at first for Batman once in her body.
  • The Comically Serious: Katrina in Batman's body can calmly pull off lines like "Does this cape make my butt look big?" with Diedrich Bader's deadpan growl.
  • Corrupted Character Copy: The episode features a crime-fighting "Bat Lady" named Katrina Moldoff, who closely resembles Kathy Kane, the original Bat-Woman in the comics. After being publicly unmasked by the Riddler years ago, she goes off the rails and tries to kill the Riddler as revenge for her humiliation... In Batman's Body!
  • Cut Lex Luthor a Check: Averted. Instead of remaining a magical supervillain, Felix Faust spent his time on parole running a simple magic shop and charging money for any magical services.
  • Dramatic Unmask: Riddler unmasks Katrina in front of the press. The resulting legal mess led to her barred from ever donning her superhero identity again, and she's essentially lived as a shut-in ever since.
  • Failed a Spot Check: Averted. Nightwing and Batgirl notice how unusual "Batman" has been acting lately and find it rather troubling.
  • "Freaky Friday" Flip: Katrina orders Felix Faust to swap her body with Batman so she can have another go at the Riddler.
  • Joker Immunity: Lampshaded when Riddler notes how Batman's Thou Shalt Not Kill attitude is unwavering, even in the face of villains who would actually deserve to be put down.
  • Kid Hero All Grown-Up: Katrina's opinion of Nightwing.
  • No Sympathy: After Katrina is unmasked by the Riddler, Batman is unmoved, telling Robin that actions have consequences. Averted at the end of the episode, where he says Katrina has to pay for her actions, but he's more apologetic about it and offers support for when she gets out.
  • Secret Secret-Keeper: During the opening flashback, Batman makes it clear he's long been aware of who "Bat Lady" really is.
  • Shout-Out: Upon being told it was Batman in Katrina's body that he was actually interacting with, Felix Faust remarks, "Well, nobody's perfect."
  • Something Only They Would Say: Batgirl and Nightwing discovered Batman's bodyswap with Katrina when he admitted to them of the latter's favorite color being blue, used to sleep with a night light, and his fear of monkeys.
  • Tempting Fate: When told Batman called for help, Atom says he hopes the most intelligent, quick witted hero available is showing up. Cue Aquaman.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: Batman and Atom need help against Bug-Eyed Bandit. Then Aquaman walks through the door.
    Atom: We're doomed.
  • Thou Shalt Not Kill: Katrina is quite open about wanting to kill the Riddler, even while in Batman's body. Given how well-known Batman's biggest rule is, this is the biggest tell by far that something is wrong.
Riddler: Everybody knows Batman doesn't kill people, even people who deserve it.
  • Villain Respect: Katrina brings down a large chandelier in the hopes of stopping Riddler, being rather unconcerned about the nearby civilians. Riddler admits he actually likes this approach.
  • Voices Are Not Mental: Which adds to the fun, as Diedrich Bader voices Katrina in Batman's body and Vanessa Marshall vice-versa.
  • We Will Meet Again: After Batman and Atom are restored to normal size, Bug-Eyed Bandit promises the latter this. Aquaman punches him out before he can run off, though.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Monkeys for Nightwing, something that Batgirl makes light of.
  • Xanatos Gambit: Riddler doesn't care if he kills Batman or just Katrina in Batman's body; either way, he says he gets rid of someone he really doesn't like.
