Reunited.

Fogg: You've had a good life.
Estella: Well, I've had a life. Some of it was astonishing, some of it was sad. Day and night, sun and rain, it all makes up a life.

The travellers reach New York, where Fogg is tempted by a chance to put the past to rest. But Kneedling is still acting against him, leading to a dockside confrontation.

But even reaching England is no guarantee of success, as red tape works to prevent Fogg reaching his deadline. And the biggest showdown is still to come...

Tropes:

  • Amicable Exes: When Fogg finally reunites with Estella in New York, they have a friendly conversation but ultimately accept that they have moved on from their past relationship.
  • And the Adventure Continues: After Fogg has won the bet and he, Passepartout and Abigail are hiding out in a room in the Reform Club, not looking forward to having to part ways, Abigail notices an article about some mysterious animal/war machine that's disrupting shipping. The trio decide to find out what it is, and joyfully slip away from the Club to embark on their next journey.
  • Character Development: Appropriately, this final episode showcases how far everyone's come.
    • Fogg has overcome his cowardice and no longer lets Bellamy push him around. See Took a Level in Badass.
    • Abigail is thrown when a reporter in New York mentions her earlier remark about women needing men like "a fish needs a penny farthing," now that she's in love with Passpartout and more secure in herself.
    • Passpartout stays to try and have a real relationship with Abigail rather than run away as he's done before.
  • Clock Discrepancy: At first it looks like Phileas Fogg has lost the bet by returning to London minutes after the deadline. But the next day - listed as "Day 81" - Fogg's butler Grayson explains that, by travelling east, they've gained a day, and still have fifteen minutes to win the bet. The counter reappears and ticks back to "Day 80" as this sinks in... and then they turn around and run to the Reform Club to make the deadline.
  • Darkest Hour: Fogg is arrested in Liverpool and misses his train. All the trio's efforts and all they've been through over the last eighty days have come to naught as they watch one o'clock come and go and Fogg's bet is lost.
  • Friendship Moment: After winning the bet, Fogg goes on one knee to light a cigar for Passpartout.
  • Graceful Loser:
    • Fogg shakes the hand of the Customs official who arrested him when the man apologises. After all, the man was only doing his duty and Fogg is a gentleman.
    • Averted with Bellamy, who as soon as Fogg wins the bet starts talking about the "ruse" of pretending to make an actual bet as an obscure joke on the other members, trying to get Fogg to agree by threatening to "destroy" him. However, Fogg is no longer as easily bullied as he once was.
  • I Want You to Meet an Old Friend of Mine: The leader of the gang that assaults Fogg and Kneedling is played by Ty Tennant, son of David Tennant.
  • Obstructive Bureaucrat: Fogg reaches Liverpool with plenty of time to catch a train to London and win his bet. However, an arrest warrant issued by Kneedling in Hong Kong means he's arrested and held until the matter can be sorted out, by which time he's already too late to reach the Club on time.
  • Race Against the Clock:
    • Fogg risks missing the boat back to England to wait under the clock in the postcard in the hope of meeting Estella. After they speak, he has to run to catch the boat, complicated further by a last-minute attack by Kneedling.
    • After realising they were a day out and still have time to win the bet after all, the trio run to the Reform Club.
  • Sadistic Choice: A rare heroic version during the confrontation at the Reform Club, when Fogg shows everyone the cheque he wrote for Bellamy in case he never returned, and then offers it to him despite winning the bet. This forces Bellamy to choose between taking the money and sacrificing his honour by admitting he made a bet without having the funds to cover it, or keeping his honour and losing his property to his creditors. He takes the money and is hounded out of the club.
  • Silly Rabbit, Cynicism Is for Losers!: Despite Passpartout's gloomy predictions that there is no future for their relationship outside of the crazy adventure they've been on, Abigail declares that she'd rather find out for herself than never know.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Fogg. When he's held up by Kneedling on the way back to the boat, remains defiant despite having a knife to his throat. The pair are attacked by a street gang who think Kneedling's mugging Fogg on their turf, and in the ensuing fight Fogg grabs a dropped bat and loses his shit, laying about himself to the point that the thugs decide it's not worth it and run away. Even better, he doesn't even mention the fight to Abigail and Passpartout, only commenting that he met Estella and apologising for alarming them. Later, he finally stands up to Bellamy and gets him thrown out of the Reform Club.
  • Toxic Friend Influence: Estella reveals that, prior to their planned elopement, Bellamy tried to persuade her to "cut her losses" and leave Fogg behind. When Fogg reveals that Bellamy's demeaning remarks were the reason he bailed, Estella beats the bench with her palms and yells, "I KNEW IT!" This seems to be the final factor that makes Fogg truly accept that his "friend" is nothing but a bully. Finally, Fogg marks his Character Development by standing up to Bellamy and exposing him to the Reform Club.
  • Villain's Dying Grace: Dying of his wounds after the dockside fight, Kneedling confirms to Fogg that Bellamy hired him because he's in debt and needs the winnings, even giving him the telegram from Bellamy telling him to intercept Fogg in New York before passing.
