Recap / Aqua Teen Hunger Force S 9 E 9 Zucotti Manicotti

Go To

Meatwad becomes obsessed with a kids' show called Zucotti Manicotti, and the tiltuar host comes to visit when he senses one of his hand puppets met its demise.

  • Blatant Lies: While Shake is obviously unable to do the requested things with the hand puppet such as teleportation, the excuses he comes up with such as swollen glands reek of this.
  • Break the Cutie: Meatwad is completely broken by the end after having killed the real Zucotti Manicotti, to the point of having a noose in his room.
  • Cluster F-Bomb: Zucotti ends up going into a swearing fit upon reaching his breaking point with Meatwad after he admits he doesn’t know about the digestive system of a Manicotti, after saying the hand puppet is real for “eating” the eggs.
  • Continuity Nod: The manufacturer for the Zucotti Manicotti Hand Puppet is titled HandBanana.
  • Downer Ending: Meatwad ends up killing the real Zucotti Manicotti, in which Shake drops the hand puppet act to tell him he killed the real one. Meatwad is then traumatized into a suicidal state, with Frylock having to keep him on suicide watch and putting Prozac in his food.
  • Driven to Suicide: While Meatwad isn’t shown to go through with it, the noose he set up in his room after killing the real Zucotti very much implies he’s on the verge of doing it.
  • Eaten Alive: According to Shake, E.T. was turned on by his own people and eaten after the credits due to smelling like Elliot.
  • Karma Houdini: Besides being shot in the hand twice, Shake completely gets away with traumatizing Meatwad. The only thing he’s upset about at the end is that Meatwad gets to eat wet cat food.
  • Lack of Empathy: Shake is only happy that Meatwad is no longer hogging the TV, while the meatball is in a silent suicidal breakdown after Zucotti’s death.
  • Medium Blending: Zucotti’s show is portrayed as a live action puppet show. A live action hand also comes out of Zucotti’s corpse after Meatwad shoots him, which he also shoots.
  • My Significance Sense Is Tingling: Zucotti is able to sense that one of his hand puppets has been shot and is about to be burned in New Jersey all the way from Space.
  • Nice Character, Mean Actor: Justified. Zucotti is understandably frustrated and enraged by Meatwad’s stupidity as his life is on the line, ultimately reaching his Rage Breaking Point.
  • Nice to the Waiter: The moral delivered by the first Zucotti Manicotti episode we see is to give bigger tips, as Zucotti chews out his friend for only tipping a dollar.
  • Out of Focus: Carl doesn’t appear, even though his car plays a role in one of the tests Meatwad gives to the Zucottis. Frylock also ends up as irrelevant during the tests until afterwards.
  • Shout-Out: The last test Meatwad sets up is eating 100 eggs, which Zucotti mentions is that it comes from Cool Hand Luke and not his show.
  • Tranquil Fury: Frylock very calmly and coldly tells Shake about how much he fucked up Meatwad into a paranoid, suicidal depression when he tricked him into killing Zucotti Manicotti, only slightly raising his voice when he wishes him luck trying to feed Meatwad his food laced with Prozac.
  • A Weighty Aesop: In-universe, as a spin-off of Zucotti Manicotti is set to premiere that teaches against childhood obesity and early onset diabetes.
