Tropes provided in the episode are:

  • Adorably Precocious Child: Bailey, one of the tiny frogs of the town, is shown to be sweet, cheerful and internally numb from the ongoing abuse his town has suffered.
  • Bandit Clan: The Hasselbacks are extorting money from the citizens of Bittyburg.
  • Bully Magnet: After being shoved into a barrel by the bandits, Anne mentions how this is similar to how she was treated in middle school.
  • Cactus Cushion: When Ma Hasselback knocks down Sprig, he falls between two cacti that then fall on top of him.
  • Call-Back: Hop Pop brings up his new image as a revolutionary from the season 1 finale.
  • Continuity Nod: Anne looks at pictures on her phone that reference several episodes from the first season.
  • Cowboy Episode: The episode features Hop Pop and company protecting a frontier town from a pack of bandits.
  • The Dog Bites Back: The Bittyburgs finally stand up to their oppressors after seeing Hop Pop stand up for them. It's also a literal example, as they subdue the Hasselback Gang by biting them.
  • Eyedscreen: Hop Pop and Mama Hasselback each have one in the beginning of the final showdown.
  • Fake Ultimate Hero: Hop Pop pulls this twice. The first time, he wows the tiny frog citizens with exaggerated stories of his past deeds, but is forced to fess up by the Hasselback Gang. The second time, he and Sprig use an elaborate trick to make it look like he's knocking out the entire gang single-handedly, but Mama Hasselback figures it out and overwhelms him again. This time, the Bittyburg citizens figure it out and decide to take matters into their own hands.
  • Gone Horribly Right: All Hop Pop wanted was for someone to stop the Bitties from being bullied. Luckily he was able to inspire them to defend themselves, unfortunately, they do so by turning into a frenzied mob.
  • Guile Hero: When facing off against the bandit family in a sunset showdown, Hop Pop pretends to attack them with his tongue while Sprig slingshots rocks at them from a distance.
  • Lilliputians: The inhabitants of Bittyburg are tiny frogs compared to the size of the other amphibians; Anne remarks that it's literally a "small town".
  • Memetic Loser: In-Universe, Sprig sings a song that paints Hop Pop in a pathetic light with regards to his part in Reunion, whereby Anne is given a more flattering description, this upsets him such that when Sprig tries to sing another song, he destroys his fiddle in frustration. Later, after Hop Pop tries and fails to defeat the Hasselbacks, he has to be saved by the Bittyburgs of all people, who now see him as a weakling, even if they do take his words to heart.
  • No Kill like Overkill: Along with biting the bandit family into submission, the Bittyburg citizens are implied to have set the Hasselbacks on fire.
  • Oh, Crap!: Hop Pop has one when he realizes that Judro wasn't working alone.
Bailey: Hooray for Hopediah Plantar, here to protect us from the ruthless Hasselback Gang.
Hop Pop: I'm sorry, Bailey, did you say "gang"?
  • Rage Breaking Point: After seeing Hop Pop get hurt standing up for them, the Bittyburg frogs fly into a rage and mob the Hasselbacks, overwhelming them with sheer numbers.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: The Bittyburgs' eyes glow red when they turn on the Hasselbacks.
  • Sniper Scope Glint: When only Mama is left, she notices the glint of a metal slingshot in the distance, causing her to realise what's actually been knocking out the gang members.
  • The Stinger: The robot from "Fort in the Road" is seen trudging through the desert towards some unknown destination.
  • Training the Peaceful Villagers: Hop Pop's example (and his failure) inspires the Bittyburg citizens to fight back.
  • The Unishment: Polly notes that the barrel she's been shoved into isn't all that different from her bucket.
  • Unspoken Plan Guarantee: Lampshaded by Polly yelling "Why are we whispering?!" when the Plantars huddle together to come up with a plan to stop the bandits. Subverted when, seconds after the audience is shown what the plan is, Mama Hasselback figures it out too and foils it, followed by the rest of the bandits getting right back up again.
  • Whole-Plot Reference: The plot is a truncated version of Rango, which itself followed the classic western plot.
