• Alien Sky: The closer the catalyst comet gets to Ooo the purpler the place becomes.
• Batman Gambit: Gunter/Orgalorg helped King of Ooo win the election so he could gain access to Princess Bubblegum's rocket.
• Big "WHAT?!": From Bubblegum when she hears King of Ooo has been voted princess.
• Body Horror: Gunter/Orgalorg's sparkling green brain is now the size of a human.
• Continuity Nod:
  • James' mother appears and tells the story of her mutated son.
  • Sweet P shows up to support King of Ooo after he "apologizes" for using him and trying to burn down Tree Trunks' orchard.
  • Finn mentions when he knocked his tower over, it smushed a person.
• The Dog Was the Mastermind: Gunter/Orgalorg turns out to be King of Ooo's accountant.
  Finn: What the bing-bong ping-pong?! Gunter?!
• Epic Fail: With everyone panicking about the catalyst comet, Starchie tries to loot a store. He throws a garbage can at a window and the can bounces back and knocks him out.

• Motif: King of Ooo mentions wax twice in relation to himself, furthering the idea that he's a complete fake (wax food among "real" candy, wax dummy among real people). He is later revealed to be made of earwax.
• Mundane Utility: Peppermint Butler sics both the Gumball Guardians on a squirrel that was bothering him.
• Oh, Crap!: Finn's reaction when the King of Ooo's accountant pulls a laser gun on him.

  • Princess Bubblegum when she comes to the realization that she made the Candy People too stupid, enough to be unable to recognize a bad leader. She had made them that way in the first place to prevent any dissent and/or uprisings against her morally-ambiguous rule.
• Politicians Kiss Babies: Inverted; King of Ooo gets the people of the Candy Kingdom on his side by making a showy public apology to Sweet P for the events of "Gold Stars", then getting Sweet P to kiss him.
• Screw This, I'm Outta Here: After she's voted out Princess Bubblegum (and Peppermint Butler) leave the Candy Kingdom in a huff, hoping that the the candy people will quickly realize that King of Ooo is a terrible leader (although Peppermint Butler points out that the candy people are "real dumb"...).
• She Is the King: Inverted. King of Ooo rules the Candy Kingdom as a princess.
• Suddenly Voiced: Gunter, now that he remembers being Orgalorg.
  Gunter/Orgalorg: Sayonara suckers!
• What Could Possibly Go Wrong?: PB says this when she considers that the King of Ooo being in charge might not be as bad.
