Punch Up The Jam is a music comedy podcast hosted by Miel Bredouw. Each episode consists of Bredouw and a Guest Host breaking down and reviewing a song, before "punching it up" and creating a new, often comedic version of the song.
The podcast was originally co-hosted by Demi Adejuyigbe alongside Bredouw. He left the show in August 2019.
This show provides examples of:
- "Blind Idiot" Translation: The punch-up to Seal's "Kiss From A Rose" is the song's original lyrics translated into Igbo and back several dozen times.
- Cargo Ship: One of the punch ups of "Mambo No. 5" is about the singer's sexual desire for his trumpets.
- Call-Back: The punch up of "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" is about how much they hated "LA Woman" from a previous episode.
- Conspiracy Theorist: The narrator of "Cowboy Take Me to Space", a punch up of "Cowboy Take Me Away" about flat earth theory.
- Fair for Its Day: Discussed regarding some sexist lyrics in "Baby Got Back".
- Fetishes Are Weird: Their conclusion about "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus"- it is in fact Dad dressed up as Santa, but it's not Christmas...
- Guest Host: While they were common before Demi left the podcast, recent episodes always include a guest hosting with Miel.
- Happy Ending Override: The punch up of "Escape (The Piña Colada Song)" is about the couple's marriage falling apart now that they each know the other was planning to cheat.
- Lyrical Dissonance: "Old Town Road" set to the tune of Johnny Cash's "Hurt".
- Making Love in All the Wrong Places: The punch up of "You Oughta Know" focuses entirely on the ex-boyfriend's constant demand for movie theater sex.
- The Musical: "Sk8er B0i: The Musical!"
- One True Threesome: "Poison" is punched up as "Foursome". It Makes Sense in Context.
- Running Gag:

- Miel relating the song to edging somehow. Demi started playing a clip of Lady Gaga singing "I'M ON THE EDGE" every time the subject came up.
- Demi describing Rugrats as airing sometime between 50 and 200 years ago.
- Perspective Flip: The punch-up of Jessie's Girl is called "Rick's a Creep", with the girlfriend in question complaining about her boyfriend's weird friend stalking her.
- Theme Tune Rap: The punch-up of Space Jam turns into this, summarizing the plot, including it being weird how hot Lola was.
- Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Guest host Latoya Ferguson mentions being terrified of the "space spider" noises in A-ha's "Take On Me" when she was a kid.
