Basic Trope: A work has more profanity or otherwise obscene language than its previous installments did.

  • Straight: "The New Adventures of Alice and Bob" has some swearing and innuendos added, while the original series "The Adventures of Alice and Bob" had very little, if any.
  • Exaggerated: Every other sentence in "The New Adventures of Alice and Bob" is a Cluster F-Bomb, while "The Adventures of Alice and Bob" was completely G-rated.
  • Downplayed:
    • There was already some swearing in "The Adventures of Alice and Bob", but its reboot noticeably added more.
    • "The New Adventures of Alice and Bob" has a few instances of minor to moderate swear words such as "hell", "damn", "ass", "god", "crap", and maybe even "bitch", while there wasn't any in the original series.
    • There's not much more profanity than the original, but the reboot adds more innuendos and other suggestive jokes.
    • The reboot adds more jokes relating to Curse Cut Short, Last-Second Word Swap, and Subverted Rhyme Every Occasion rather than actual profanity, even though the original didn't have any jokes of this sort at all.
  • Justified: "The New Adventures of Alice and Bob" features the characters being somewhat older, so it makes some amount of sense that they might swear more frequently.
  • Inverted: Kinder and Cleaner: "The Adventures of Alice and Bob" had frequent swearing, but there is little to no swearing in its reboot.
  • Subverted: Swearing is believed to be in the series, but this is due to mishearing innocent words as swear words.
  • Double Subverted: And then comes the next season, where actual swearing occurs.
  • Parodied: All dialogue consists of censor bleeps.
  • Zig-Zagged: Some episodes have swearing, some don't.
  • Averted: There is no change in how much profanity/obscene language a series has.
  • Enforced: "The New Adventures of Alice and Bob" is Darker and Edgier or aimed at an older audience than "The Adventures of Alice and Bob" was, so it makes sense that some profanity would be added.
  • Lampshaded: ???
  • Invoked: Alice and Bob think that swearing more often will make them cooler, so they decide to do it.
  • Exploited: ???
  • Defied: "No, I still won't swear. This started off as a kids' show, you know."
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: "Why do they swear more often in this show? I don't remember "The Adventures of Alice and Bob" having any swearing at all."
