Basic Trope: Orderlies at hospitals are portrayed as creepy or otherwise antagonistic.
- Straight: The orderlies at Tropeville Hospital are rude jerkasses who treat the patients badly, doing actions such as taking advantage of comatose patients.
- Exaggerated: All of the orderlies are completely depraved, and are even known to engage in Sickbed Slaying.
- Downplayed: The orderlies generally do their jobs well, but can be rather unkind towards most people.
- One of the orderlies is a creep while the rest are professional and well-respected. The other orderlies avoid him.
- The orderlies have a reputation for pilfering patients' medication to get high and one is engaged in a "consensual" relationship with an attractive female patient, but other than that do their jobs decently well
- Justified:
- The hospital generally doesn't care much about patients' well-being to begin with.
- The orderlies are pretending that they're good at their job specifically so that they can take advantage of patients.
- Inverted: The orderlies are very kind, respectable people - possibly even more so than the other staff at the hospital.
- Subverted: Bob the orderly has all the characteristics "creepy" traits to give a bad first impression, but it turns out he's the nicest guy there and he's Not Evil, Just Misunderstood.
- Double Subverted: Except it's an act and he's a male Bitch in Sheep's Clothing.
- Parodied: Orderlies are obviously creepy, sleazy monsters but the hospital staff are oblivious.
- Zig-Zagged: The orderlies are said to be creepy, but it's just an Unreliable Narrator, except we actually see one being a creep later on, but that has a perfectly innocent explanation, which is a cover for something more vile, except they were pawns in the narrator's game. Or so he says.
- Averted: The orderlies are generally normal people.
- Enforced: The writers want to add some Nightmare Fuel / Paranoia Fuel to the scene where Hiro is hospitalized, so they portray the orderlies as disgusting creeps to show how unsafe Hiro feels.

- Exploited: Evulz knows the mental hospital has a reputation for creepy orderlies, so he gets one of his mooks committed to enact a crime from within, knowing they'll just blame the orderlies.

- The hospital finds out what the orderlies are up to, and fire them.
- Alice sends all of the orderlies to ICU and makes clear that anybody who so much as thinks of putting their hands on her will suffer the same fate. She spends the rest of her stay at Tropeville Hospital being treated, if not kindly, then at least humanely.
- Discussed: "Watch out for the orderlies, Alice. They might try some creepy stuff. If so, fight back"
