- Straight: Bob has a "man's man" body but is also gay and effeminate.
- Exaggerated: Bob is a muscle-bound gonk and lisps so much that he is completely incomprehensible and shudders at the thought of doing anything remotely "masculine."

- Bob does like musicals and the like. He also loves football and working out.
- Bob is flamboyant, clean-shaven, and has Pretty Boy facial features, but he is muscular and has a noticeable bulge.
- Justified:
- Bob is gay and fits all the stereotypes, but for different reasons: he lisps because of a dental problem, loves musicals because his grandma used to take him to them, etc.
- Bob is just naturally that feminine, but he has to hide his gayness by making himself look manly because he lives in a conservative area, or for the sake of his career...
- Inverted: Bob has an effeminate physical appearance but Manly Gay behaviors.
- Gender Inverted:
- Alice is a through-and-through Lipstick Lesbian but she is either an Amazonian Beauty Statuesque Stunner or a Gonky Femme Brawn Hilda (if only gender-inverted)
- Alice has long hair, a soft face, a voluptuous figure, and a sweet high-pitch voice, but she is a harsh, crude Butch Lesbian (if completely inverted)
- Subverted: Bob is very flamboyant and effeminate, but reveals to Alice that he's actually straight.
- Double Subverted: However, he only did so on a dare from his even more flamboyant friend Chuck, in order to win a ticket to Gypsy.
- Parodied:
- Bob is shown going to a "gay camp" where they do harsh workouts as well as teach proper lisping techniques, what constitutes a truly "fabulous" musical, etc.
- When a Straight Gay starts Hulking Out, he suddenly behaves more femininely.
- Zig Zagged: Bob acts like a stereotypical gay, but then reveals that he's straight. But then it is discovered that he lied. Or perhaps he told the truth.
- Averted:
- Bob is neither gay nor muscular.
- Bob is hypermasculine, whether or not he is gay.
- Enforced:
- The producers are Heteronormative Crusader who want to reinforce over-the-top stereotypes about gay characters in the media.
- The producers are gays but they create Bob as parodies of themself, or to evoke An Aesop about men with manly appearance can be feminine as well.
- Lampshaded: "He is so Hunk but... wait, he's flamboyant?!"
- Invoked: To Flying Under the Gaydar, a Camp Gay Pretty Boy Bob starts shaving his head, growing a beard, and gaining more muscle through excessive workouts.
- Exploited: Bob uses his manly appearance to scare the Heteronormative Crusader.
- Defied:
- Bob is gay but goes out of his way to make sure he doesn't fit any of the stereotypes.
- Bob is flamboyant and bisexual, but only sleeps with women to avoid being seen as one of these.
- Bob is flamboyant and looks manly, but he starts shaving nicely and slacks off to become less muscular.
- Conversed: "Why do we have so many Camp Gay characters who look comically manlier than average men? It's offensive!" "Plenty of Pretty Boy have mannish behaviors and interests, so I guess it's only fair to avoid a Double Standard."
- Implied: Bob is muscular and Ambiguously Gay.
Back to Macho Camp, darling!
