Playing With / Getting Eaten Is Harmless

Go To

Basic Trope: Character gets eaten, but is unharmed.

  • Straight: Little Red gets eaten by Wolf, but isn't harmed.
  • Exaggerated:
    • Wolf chews Red up while eating her, only for her to come out the other end, completely unscathed.
    • Red is able to remain safe in Wolf's stomach for Years without any issues. In fact, even her cape is intact.
    • Being in Wolf's stomach actually heals Red.
  • Downplayed:
    • Wolf immediately spits/vomits Red back up.
    • Wolf is merely holding Red in his mouth, at the moment anyway.
  • Justified:
    • Red actually has very strong skin, and/or can heal very quickly.
    • Red, or Wolf, knows protective magics, is wearing a protective outfit (Red), or took an enhanced anti-acid pill (Wolf).
    • There is actually a time during which one could be inside of Wolf's stomach, and be safe. If Red stays past that time limit however, she'll die.
    • What Red is actually in is a fleshy pouch of holding, which Wolf's kind uses to store future meals, or to protect their offspring from more dangerous predators. Past this particular holding pouch however is Wolf's real stomach.
    • Wolf's kind can control their stomach acids, so that they don't accidentally digest those whom they don't see as food, at least at that point in time.
    • Wolf is actually a wolf-shaped giant robot, which is self-a-were enough to not need a pilot, but functions much better with one and Red is Wolf's pilot. As for why Wolf swallows Red, it only does that in combat situations when it can't open the direct access point to the cockpit located in its chest, and swallowing Red is the safest option to protect both the pilot and the means for Red to control Wolf. That being said, don't ask what the Emergency Exit is like.
    • Red is a special, and very small, doctor who makes a living examining the digestive systems of her patients, like Wolf, from the inside, after they've been on a special diet for a few days to empty their insides as much as possible, and she wears a special suit. After swallowing her, Wolf merely has to rest for a few hours, while Red checks on things, until she leaves via the Natural Exit.
    • Wolf took a class on what to do if he swallowed someone like Red. How he uses this is to his own discretion.
    • Red took a class on what to do if swallowed by someone like Wolf. How she uses this is to her own discretion.
    • Either Wolf is a very large wolf or Red is a very small person. Either way, Wolf simply just swallowed Red whole, which explains why she's safe, at the moment.
    • Red's kind were either adapted, or modified, to being eaten by Wolf's kind. In fact, there's even a symbiosis - Wolf swallows Red to protect her from predators who'd rip her to pieces, or in order to help sooth an internal stomach issue. Afterwards, Red helps Wolf with other intestinal issues.
  • Inverted: Red immediately dies when Wolf licks just one of her fingers.
  • Subverted: Red notices that her clothes are starting to dissolve, or that her skin is starting to turn red, and there's bubbles...
  • Double Subverted: Only for Wolf to reveal that Red herself is perfectly safe, but not her clothes, and that his stomach acts like a Jacuzzi.
  • Parodied:
    • Wolf eats Red, starts to laugh evilly, only for him to moan and groan in pain, and then run to a bush. A little while later, he comes out, sighing in relief. A little while after that, Red comes out, smelling of wolf poop, and complaining about having been eaten.
    • Red tries to get Wolf to eat her, even stalking him, dressing herself up as his meal-to-be, and trying to shove herself into his mouth. Wolf, afraid of being just like the one in the story, does everything he can to avoid her, even taking a flight to the moon, not that this stops Red from taking her own flight.
    • Wolf is actually a Full Tour Ride, and Red is just the latest of his customers.
  • Zig Zagged:
    • Red's cape, and the goodies in her basket, dissolves, but Red herself is safe. Wolf claims that his stomach can't dissolve live prey.
    • Red is safe, but not the Evil Fox that Wolf also ate. Wolf says that he can control who or what his stomach digests.
  • Averted: Getting eaten is Not harmless.
  • Enforced:
    • Red is just a kid, and this is a children's story, thus children can't be harmed.
    • This is a Safe Vore story, where Red gets eaten by Wolf, but does not get harmed.
  • Lampshaded: "Are you sure that being eaten by you is completely safe, Wolf?" "Red, I assure you, being eaten by me is safe."
  • Invoked:
    • Wolf eats Red as part of a fetish story.
    • Wolf and Red are just actors, and once the audience leaves, Wolf lets Red out.
  • Exploited:
    • Wolf swallows Red to protect her from predators that would rip and chew her to bits.
    • Red has a sexual fetish/desire about being eaten, and Wolf is a Safe Predator to indulge in her fantasy with. Of course, it doesn't hurt that Wolf likes tasting/swallowing Red himself.
    • Wolf has a job that allows him to transport humans, like Red, in his stomach. Said job could be the equivalent of a taxi service, a literal bodyguard, a law enforcement officer, a smuggler, a Human Trafficker, or other such things. This means that Red could be Wolf's client or prisoner, depending on the job.
    • In some strange Buddy Cop Show, Wolf is a very large wolf or Red is a very small person, who happen to be partners. During an Outrun the Fireball situation, Wolf swallows Red in order to protect her from harm, as he is immune, or at least resistant to fire, unlike Red, who would get extra crispy. Wolf escapes the blaze with only minor injuries, namely burnt fur, and finds a place to bring Red up, who, aside from minor issues with her clothes, is just fine. Coincidentally, this is also useful when the Big Bad's Mooks whip out a lot of automatic firearms. That being said, afterwards, Red gives her partner a good rubbing, which may or may not be internal.
  • Defied:
    • Red does not get eaten.
    • Wolf kills/chews Red into pieces before eating her.
  • Discussed: "Being eaten is safe. The trick is to find a predator big enough to swallow you whole, and won't digest you."
  • Conversed: "Are you sure that being eaten is harmless?" "I get eaten all the time."
  • Implied: Wolf is seen with a Balloon Belly, and no Red. A little while later, Red is beside Wolf, complaining about how filthy her cape is.
  • Deconstructed:
    • If Wolf was to swallow Red, Red would run out of oxygen and pass out, and either asphyxiate or drown.
    • Due to a past incident, where she was, more or less, victimized by one of Wolf's kind, Red is afraid to get eaten.
    • Wolf is cursed to be unable to digest anything, never heals beyond the scabbing of wounds and going mad from the hunger as he inexorably starves to death. Even giving insulin and glucose are unable to sustain him.
  • Reconstructed:
    • Then Wolf, or Red, find the means to keep Red alive inside of Wolf's stomach.
    • Wolf takes Red to a series of classes, and tries to build up their trust level, so that she'll be comfortable being swallowed.
  • Plotted A Good Waste:
    • Red is built up to be a big jerk, so when Wolf does eat her, no one really cares.
    • Wolf tells Red that it would be safe, but nothing happens.
  • Played For Laughs: Red was never in any danger from Wolf.
    • Evilly, Wolf swallows poor Red alive, only for Red to pull out a feather and start tickling Wolf's insides, causing him to laugh, and begging her to stop tormenting him.
    • It's revealed that Red and Wolf are really friends, and Wolf swallowing Red is simply his way of saying "Hello", and he lets her out a moment later. May also involve internal tickling, or sexual foreplay depending on the maturity of Red. Of course, Wolf just might like the way that Red tastes.
    • Red walks up to Wolf, and Wolf swallows her. Red walks up to Wolf again, and Wolf swallows her again. Red walks up to Wolf yet again, and Wolf swallows her a third time. Wolf then looks at the fourth wall and says "Don't ask how she gets out, or what's happening off-camera." He then sees that Red has walked up to him once more, and swallows her, yet again.
    • Wolf has a tendency to eat things in his sleep, and one of those things was Red just now. She just shrugs, and goes back to sleep, knowing that she'll be fine in the morning.
  • Played For Drama: Wolf's stomach is indeed safe for Red to be in, but only for a certain amount of time.
    • Wolf uses this as a means to torment Red, before she eventually starts to be digested alive.
    • Red, having found out that she has cancer, wants Wolf to help end her life. Wolf tries to use the time that she'd be safe in, in an attempt to change her mind.
    • Emperor Evilz is keeping both Wolf and Red as his prisoners, and has Red force-fed into Wolf, who is then Bound and Gagged, so that he is unable to bring her back up, as Emperor Evilz watches them suffer, as Red tries to get out, and Wolf tries to save her.
    • Wolf, who has a tendency to eat things in his sleep, has just swallowed Red. Red tries to struggle and escape, but it soon proves to be no use.
    • In a Race Against the Clock, which might involve a fire, or a bomb, Red is critically injured. Unwilling to leave her behind, but also unable to just carry her, Wolf is forced to swallow Red in order to bring her with him. Problem is, he's now in a race against his own biology, as his stomach will now see a dying Red as food if she's not out of him in less than five minutes, to say nothing about the fact that she's about to pass out.

And back into the stomach we go.
