Basic Trope: Computer viruses cause "illness" in machines.
- Straight:
- ALI-C3 is infected with a computer virus, which causes her to have human-like symptoms of illness.
- The Alice Virus takes on the appearance of a sickly individual.
- Exaggerated: ALI-C3 is infected with a computer virus, which causes her to have VERY human-like symptoms of illness. Is that snot or coolant?
- Downplayed: ALI-C3 is infected with a computer virus which causes her to become weak and/or groggy on top of malfunctioning.
- Justified:
- Bob The Cracker creates a computer virus intentionally designed to cause an illness-like effect in robots.
- ALI-C3 is infected with a computer virus, which causes certain parts of her to malfunction, causing the appearance of symptoms of illness.
- Inverted:
- ALI-C3 has a problem that's fixed using a computer virus.
- The Alice Virus is a health nut.
- Subverted:
- ALI-C3 is infected with a computer virus, which seems to weaken her, but she later turns evil from it.
- ALI-C3 seems to be sick, but it's not a computer virus.
- Double Subverted:
- She becomes sick after the evil is purged from her system.
- It turns out it IS a computer virus after all.
- Parodied:
- A computer virus causes the Robotic Undead.
- A computer virus is cured with chicken soup.
- Computer viruses are homologous with human diseases in a Robot Republic.
- Zig Zagged:
- ALI-C3 is infected with a computer virus, which seems to make her sick, but it's revealed that it's actually improving her technical functionality. She then starts to seriously deteriorate after only a few hours.
- Trope Town has a big robot population. When robots get infected with computer viruses, they cause them to comically malfunction, turn evil, or become sick. Either one or another.
- Averted:
- ALI-C3 is infected with a computer virus, which causes her to malfunction or turn evil.
- ALI-C3 never gets a computer virus.
- Enforced:
- ALI-C3 is a main character on an animated comedy which needs a Sick Episode at some point.
- This is a Zany Cartoon where every minute must have a random joke in it and just so happens to have a robot character.
- Lampshaded: "I feel a bit feverish. I must've caught a computer virus."
- Invoked: ALI-C3 asks Bob the Playful Hacker to create and install software into her that'll make her sick.
- Exploited: ALI-C3 fakes being sick and blames it on a computer virus, which Bob the Robot Master believes because this has happened before.
- Implied: Bob informs Carol and Dave the Space Police that ALI-C3 can't join them on their mission because she's infected with a computer virus. Meanwhile, a sneeze can be heard from off-screen.
- Defied: ALI-C3 lampshades this trope, but Bob tells her that she's seen too many cartoons. Nothing comes of it.
- Discussed: "C3, you don't look so good. Did you get a virus?"
- Conversed: "Doesn't the literal computer virus joke seem overdone? It's like it's evolved past being just a pun."
- Deconstructed: ???
- Reconstructed: ???
- Played For Drama: ALI-C3's computer virus is treated as a terminal illness.
