Offscreen Moment Of Awesome / Child of the Storm

Go To

For all of the amazing moments that are seen, there are plenty more offscreen. Since this is a moments page, spoilers will be unmarked.

Child of the Storm

  • During the Second World War, Captain America raided Nurmengard.
  • The sealing of Pegasus was stated to be Alan Scott's finest hour. Given the kinds of things Pegasus was shown to hold, and that it's explicitly noted Strange was steering the viewpoint characters away from the worst it has to offer...
  • Essentially every time Alan Scott dueled Magneto, especially given the kinds of things Carol (who only had a quick tutorial on how to use the Ring, while Scott had decades of experience), and what the latter was capable of while holding back.
  • Loki mentioned that after Thor/James married Lily, Amora had some very unpleasant things to say. Loki defended her honor, and took great pleasure in doing so.
  • During chapter 43, Sif ends a brief POV section facing down a gigantic undead sea serpent. By the next time she's mentioned, she's brought down five, and her next onscreen appearance shows her to be unscathed.
  • Peter Wisdom, a.k.a Regulus Black, has found and destroyed several horcruxes. Only the diadem and Harry's scar remain. And following Chapter 70, only the former.
  • Mar-Vell reveals that during the Chitauri Invasion, he was responsible for killing many of the Chitauri that the Avengers missed.
  • The last time that someone kidnapped Pepper, 'a domestic terrorist organisation and three blocks of flats got wiped off the map'.
  • It's noted that some of the worldwide intelligence agencies targeted by HYDRA were able to temporarily resist the veidrdraugr before being overwhelmed, and the HYDRA strike teams sent to attack the Red Room and MI13 never emerged.

Ghosts of the Past

  • When Strange arrives at the end of chapter 2, it's apparently right after fighting off an attempted invasion of Earth by Dormammu. As in, he's scorched and his clothing is still smoking.
    • Most of Strange's adventures count, since he's usually manipulating the timeline, killing off bad guys behind the scenes, and/or fighting eldritch abominations such as Dormammu, Shura-Gorath, and Lucifer.
    • He also mentions that Chthon breaks out to cause havoc once every ten thousand years or so.
  • When Jean Grey was a child, she was psychically linked to a friend of hers who was killed traumatically. This led to Jean's powers activating, and her being dragged into the borderlands of Death's domain. Xavier (with, Harry—probably correctly—suspects, Doctor Strange's help) was able to pull her back.
  • Wanda and Dresden were involved in fighting off a bunch of especially tentacular demons in Japan, after a bunch of Otaku used the wrong book of magic in the wrong place at the wrong time. The results were, apparently, very messy, as were Dresden's unspeakable jokes about sushi and Japanese pornography. It also, apparently, resulted in a lot of gunk in Wanda's hair, much to her displeasure.
  • Thor and Steve march into the Kremlin, terrify Volodya, and demand Harry and Carol back, Lukin and/or Essex's heads on a platter, and the Red Room shut down immediately, not necessarily in that order.
  • Several of the fights in the climax of the Forever Red arc are so one-sided that they're just skipped over. Natasha vs Belova round II, for instance, after Belova pushed Natasha's Berserk Button and received a calm yet utterly brutal No-Holds-Barred Beatdown.
  • On a smaller scale, so is a food fight in the Great Hall, which ends with Seamus Finnegan's eyebrows on fire (again), Pansy Parkinson being treated for a concussion from a hard-boiled egg, Colin Creevey stuck in the rafters, and a tidal wave of jam engulfing Fudge. Which was of course not Dumbledore's fault and he had absolutely nothing to do with it.
  • It's mentioned that Strange has been hunting down and amusing himself with all of the clones of Essex.
  • Most of Dead Beat is reduced to this, as Word of God noted that up until the end, it would be essentially the same as canon with a few minor changes.
  • Credit to Jor-El, who was able to break into Alison Carter's home and avoid her security measures without leaving any exterior trace.
  • Odin mentions having battled Elder Wyrms and other servants of Surtur before.
  • Cedric, Krum, and Fleur's exploits during the First Task are skipped over until they are kidnapped by the barrow wrights.
  • Word of God has it that Black Panther and Guardians of the Galaxy played out pretty much the same way as canon, albeit offscreen. T'Challa and Wisdom briefly reference the events of the former.
  • In-between his two scenes in Chapter 52, Strange singlehandedly genocides the Red Court, in such a way that it also cures all of the half-turned victims as well by murdering their common ancestor and creator, Camazotz, the Mayan God of darkness and blood.
  • In Chapter 61, Sirius recounts to Harry a recent mission he was on with Remus and Constantine involving hunting down alchemists in Eastern Europe (whom Sirius suspects were influenced by Voldemort) who were using magical tattoos to turn people into hexenwolves.
  • Most of the Battle of New Orleans is this, as various mundane, magical, and other super-powered heroes fight Nimue's creations to protect the city.

The Phoenix and the Serpent

  • In tracing her distant relative's path, Sunniva comes across the remains of and hears about monsters that threatened the innocent while he was around, not one of whom was much of a bother to him.
  • We only get to see and hear about the edges of how Shou-Lao helped Harry through his emotional trauma and taught him wisdom, but there's no doubt that it was pretty awesome.
  • While Harry is duelling Lobo, there's another match going on in the background, which Ben Grimm seems to have won. One of his opponents was Kilowog.
