- Juliet falling into despair and becoming Vivian. Oh god.
- An example of Nothing Is Scarier: The flickering lights, the glitches and nightmarish voices are all present from the beginning. They grow later on, but it's enough to give the reader a strong uncomfortable vibe.
- The shadows, although they're a case of Dark Is Not Evil, can be really, really scary. Their text is also formatted in a strange way - it looks like it is cut off and is in all lowercase letters.
- Their very concept. The dark and repressed parts of the characters, breathed life into and going on a rampage.
