General

  • Despite having some comical moments, Opaline can be more than a bit unnerving. For one thing she's an evil alicorn who believes her kind deserve to rule supreme over all ponies just because they're... well... alicorns. Remind you of anyone? She's apparently so powerful and dangerous that Twilight Sparkle; a brave and powerful princess who believed in The Power of Friendship and had already defeated many dangerous villains, deemed Opaline such a serious threat to Equestria that she not only hid Equestria from the rest of the world, but sealed away all of its magic! But arguably, the most frightening thing about Opaline is her mistreatment of her minion and adoptive daughter, Misty. It is a disturbingly realistic portrayal of Parental Abuse; not only does Opaline prey on poor Misty's insecurities and desire for a Cutie Mark to secure her loyalty, but she constantly berates, belittles, humiliates and intimidates her even when she's just trying to help or innocently find something to make her happy.

Chapter 2

The Traditional Unicorn Sleep-Over

Have You Seen This Dragon?

  • This episode has Sparky being kidnapped from right under Hitch's nose. Naturally, he spends most of the episode freaking out.

Chapter 4

Bridlewoodstock
  • Ruby Jubilee getting her voice stolen by the Troggles. She almost sounds like she's being suffocated, gasping for air.

The Jinxie Games

  • Sparky almost falling to his doom off the Wishing Tree.

Missing The Mark

  • Sparky is stolen once more, but unlike "Have You Seen This Dragon?" it's decidedly not played for laughs. He's left in a bubble, being drained of all of his Dragonfire, and once the process is completed, the bubble will pop and drop him into a deep abyss under the castle. It's quite a callused move from Opaline.

Chapter 5

Family Trees Pt. 1

  • Misty's visions, which involve her wandering a field of fog encountering a tall shadow of a pony. Initially, we're led to believe it's Opaline, but it's later revealed to be Alphabittle searching for his daughter.

Family Trees Pt. 2

  • The reveal that Alphabittle's own daughter disappeared and has been missing for essentially a decade or longer.
