Avengers: Infinite Wars

Mythology Gag in this series.

Marvel Universe

  • War Machine cries "Tank Missile!" while firing a rocket at a Lucrehulk's reactor.
  • Pietro mentions that there were plans for the Avengers to relocate from the compound to a Stark family residence before they were sent to the new galaxy, a reference to Avengers Mansion in the comics.
  • The Spider-Cop rambling used by Spider-Man in both Earth and the Galaxy Far, Far Away was initially used in his 2018 self-titled game.
  • There are many nods to the movie Captain America: Civil War in this story.
    • Spider-Man 'steals' Captain America's shield, except in this case the shield had already been taken by Brock Rumlow and Peter's just stealing it back.
    • When Iron Man fights The Mandarin, he uses Friday to analyze his fight pattern to get the edge over the thousand year old adversary.
    • Another reference to Civil War happens in chapter 94 - in this case, after Steve and Aayla share a kiss (instead of Sharon Carter), Cap soon realizes some of his teammates saw that, much to his exasperation.
  • In Tales of Infinite Wars, White Tiger's introductory chapter sees him as a wrestler facing Bone Saw, the wrestler who Peter fought in his debut as Spider-Man in the original Spider-Man trilogy.
  • The Ancient One establishes that her Order was founded by a Tibetan monk, just like the original Ancient One in the comics.
  • Chapter 55 ends with a group of villains discussing plans to assemble a team "to Liberate this world from the injustices done towards many", hinting at the Liberators of The Ultimates 2.
  • Karness Muur uses the same absorption spell as Strange Supreme in Chapter 53.
  • Trevor Slattery's Dijiang buddies being "Sherlock" and "Watson" could be a nod to Ben Kingsley's role in Without a Clue, where he essentially portrayed Watson and Holmes (in Without a Clue Watson was the deductive genius who invented the character of Sherlock Holmes to hide his interest in detective work).
  • When Thor confronts the Son on Mortis, he delivers a variation on his comic counterpart's popular line; "Thor would have words with thee".
    • In the same chapter, Peter discovers the Venom Symbiote in the Son’s domain in a way very reminiscent of how his comic counterpart first encountered it in Secret Wars (1984) (save that here it was obviously being kept trapped by something whereas in the comic Peter mistook the "prison" for a clothes manufacturing machine).
  • Steve saying "Smash" to Wrecker in the Citadel. Just change "Wrecker in the Citadel" with "Hulk in New York".
  • Ultron using a corrupted kyber crystal to forcibly turn Even Piell into a hybrid Ultron drone is a nod to the Ultron virus and the Techno-Organic virus that appear in the comics.
  • Tony declares that he and Stephen Strange are "Facial hair bros". Awesome.
  • After finding the black suit, Peter is shown alternating between the black suit and his original Stark-designed suit depending on what he needs, such as the Stark suit having GPS capabilities while the black suit enhances his strength, much like how Spider-Man: Web of Shadows gave the red and black suits different strengths to encourage players to alternate between them.
  • After Ahsoka starts a relationship with Peter and Barriss, she starts to call the webhead "Tiger", just like Mary Jane Watson in the comics.
    • This is Fridge Brilliance in the meta sense since, in the Mycast page, Zendaya, who interprets Michelle Jones (MJ) in the MCU, is the one cast by the readers as the Togruta padawan in this fanfic. Remember that Michelle was created as an alternate version of the original Mary Jane.
  • While in Onderon, the Rebels and their allies face a Twi'lek Acolyte who can fire blast bolts from his eyes, just like Cyclops of the X-Men lore.
  • Anakin Skywalker uses Steve Rogers' quote "I can do this all day." during his first duel against Darth Vader on Tython in chapter 98.
  • After a painful arrival on 1610!New York, IW!Peter starts complaining about his back hurting, to which Jedi!Peter helps with a light elbow on his back.
  • When talking about his life to IW!Peter, Jedi!Peter's relationships with Barriss and Ahsoka mirrors his 616!counterpart's with Gwen Stacy and Mary Jane Watson… including Barriss' death.
  • J. Jonah Jameson shows up at 1610 Peter's funeral, though he is taking after his Ultimate Spider-Man counterpart, having moved on from his irrational hatered of the wallcrawler and is now dedicated to preserving his memory.
  • Peter B's life/world is overall similar to the 616 Marvel continuity.
    • He apparently went through his own Black Suit Saga though his was apparently more... venomous.
    • He also mentions that on his Earth Wanda and Pietro are "Mutants" and name drops Logan and Wade.
    • He later mentions Susan, confirming the Fantastic Four also exist on his world.
  • Spider-Man Noir does the Peter-2 classic with his organic webbing in comparison to the other Spider-Men's web-shooters.
Jedi-Peter: Wait, that came out of you.
Peni: How on earth does that even happen?
Noir: (smirking) Yeah. You can't do that, huh?
    • Spider-Ham can do it, too, though.
  • As the Spiders discuss their past relationships, Peter Park'r mentions that one of his flings between Barriss's death and him getting together with Ahsoka was a relationship with the mercenary Silvija Sablinova, AKA Silver Sable of the planet Symkaria, prompting Noir, Gwen and Old Peter to mention that in their Earths Symkaria is a country (IW!Peter wonders if it's close to Sokovia in his world as they sound similar).
    • Park'r also mentions that he doesn't have an Avengers team, but, instead, his universe has the Future Foundation, an organization that exists in Earth-616 as brief rename and later a spin off group of the Fantastic Four - in Jedi!Peter's universe, the Foundation is headed by Reed and Susan Ri'chards.
  • Chapter 103:
  • Chapter 104:
    • She-Hulk calls on Mordo for a "fastball special", a move popularized by Wolverine in the comics.
    • During the battle against Ultron on Naboo T'challa whips out a new weapon a dual-sided purple energy scythe.
  • When Ultron confronts the heroes in his final form in Chapter 108, his appearance resembles Infinity Ultron ("What If... Ultron Won?"), with Kyber crystals in place of the Infinity Stones.
    • In the same chapter, Thor and Doctor Strange use the same combo attack where Strange sends a spell at Mjolnir thrown by Thor, replicating into hundreds of hammers that barraged Ultron.

Star Wars

  • Cody warns "Watch those wrist rockets!" when his platoon gets attacked by Super Battle Droids on Ryloth.
  • While waiting for the Gorog to appear on the gladiator arena, Anakin utters the iconic phrase "I have a bad feeling about this".
  • During her battle with Zalem, when Wanda achieves the powers of the Scarlet Witch, the Nightsister queen utters the lines "That's not true. That's impossible" from The Empire Strikes Back.
  • In the Halloween Omake, Padme is dressed as the bounty hunter Boushk, the same outfit worn by Leia in Return of the Jedi.
  • When Ahsoka accompanies Anakin on a trip to Tatooine, at one point she is described watching the binary sunset while leaning on a dune, just like one of the most iconic images of Luke from the original film.
  • The scene where Asajj Ventress deals with an annoying “admirer” in the Mos Eisley's bar evokes a similar scene in A New Hope, where Luke Skywalker attracts unwanted attention from a criminal who have “a death sentence in twelve systems”, before said criminal is slain by Obi-Wan Kenobi - curiously, Asajj's role is a mix of Luke and Obi-Wan's in this case.
  • The extermination of the Geonosians, carried by Ultron is this timeline, also happened in canon, only a decade and half later.
    • Ultron's modus operandi on Geonosis (planetary bombardment, followed by the survivors' extermination) resembles too much the Night of the Thousand Tears.
  • Anakin's reaction to Vader's true identity is clearly meant to invoke Luke's reaction to the same in The Empire Strikes Back.
  • After his second fight with Darth Vader, Anakin defeats him and after looking at his cybernetic hand, it briefly resembles that of his dark counterpart, similar to that of his apprentice from another timeline with Galen Marek/Starkiller.
  • When an alternate Peter Parker who has been fully trained as a Jedi appears in the "main" timeline, he mentions that in his reality Obi-Wan is married to Siri Tachi, a character in the Jedi Apprentice series.
