Awesome / Avengers: Infinite Wars

Go To

When Earth's Mightiest Heroes collide with the Jedi Order, and a Galaxy Far Far Away, there's plenty of awesome moments to be expected.

  • The very premise of the fanfic is this. Combining Star Wars and the Marvel Universe into a mega fanfic crossover is an incredible idea. And there are still plenty of iconic characters from Star Wars and the Marvel Universe who have yet to appear...

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/war_machine_vs_durge_round_2_by_freemanwriter_dfwx0ac_fullview.jpg
War Machine vs Durge, starting their long rivalry in the story
  • Steve and Sam lay the initial groundwork for gaining respect in the Republic by helping turn the tide in the CIS's first assault on Naboo. And then Scott manages to surprise Asajj Ventress to assist in ending the attack.
  • War Machine helps ensure Cutup and Hevy survive the raid on the rookies.
  • Steve seeing through Palpatine’s false politeness, thanks to previous encounter with Secretary Pierce and Natasha’s education on analyzing people.
  • Rhodey uses his military flight know-how to give the clone army new military tactics for a smoother fight with the Malevolence.
    • Scott Lang sabotaging General Grievous’ cybernetic parts during fight.
    • The Avengers handling the Malevolences engines, especially Hyperdrive, to make it crash into nearby moon's surface, much to Grievous' surprise and anger.
  • Chapter 9: Pietro helps to protect the Ryloth freedom fighters, speeding his way around to keep the Jedi alive and the rebels safe, complete with a running-made tornado against BOTH land and aerial CIS units.
  • Chapter 12: Steve Rogers's Vibranium shield being able to withstand the blast of a tank shell from Lok Durd's Defoliator, while defending the Lurmen village, much to the Jedi & Clones amazement
  • Natasha spent weeks learning the bounty hunting trade, giving her a perfect opportunity to surprise Cad Bane during his raid on the Senate.
    Season 2 misc.
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/giant_man_vs_zillo_beast.jpg
Gi-Ant-Man Vs the Zillo Beast
  • Chapter 25: The Avengers help fight the Zilo-Beast when it goes on a rampage on Corruscant. Ant-Man turns Gi-Ant-Man to match the size of the Zilo Beast.
  • The Invasion of Geonosis, with all of the Avengers joining in.
  • Peter working with Captain Rex to take out Durge. In the middle of the chase for Cad Bane, with gravity turned off and cannon shells floating around, Peter gets the idea to use his web-shooters to throw one of these shells at Durge, Rex shooting it to trigger the explosion. One of the first examples of Clone Troopers keeping up with the Avengers and the Jedi.
  • Peter lifts an insurmountable weight off him to grab the cure for the Blue Shadow Virus, much like in If This Be My Destiny...!. Much to the amazement of Anakin Skywalker, Steve Rogers, and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
    Mandalorian Introduction arc
  • The Protectors stare down Count Dooku and are not intimidated by his threats.
  • The Avengers give their own spin on why clamping down on the old ways has only led to a darker turn for the Mandalorians.
  • The Protectors make their announcement to the Senate by declaring a third choice between the extremes of Death Watch and New Mandalorians, giving that Mandalore a different dynamic for it's civil war.
    • Count Dooku: Know this, we will make your lives rather hard for not considering joining the Separatist cause.

Spar only snorted, a challenging grin. More like your Master's cause , Tyrannus

"And make our lives hard?" Spar mocked. "That is when a Mandalorian thrives."
    Rise of Ultron Arc
  • Chapter 47: Ultron announces his appearance on the galactic stage by staging an attack across the galaxy, showing that though the droid army might be fearsome, the Age of Ultron will be far worse.
  • The nightmare of the battle of Jabiim in Chapter 49. While already a mess in Legends, here, it's a straight up planetary evacuation to ensure Ultron doesn't kill everyone.
    • Even more awesome, the Avengers pull a heroic attack to try and draw Ultron away from the evacuation. Ultron even chuckles at seeing them do it since he anticipated it.
  • Captive Steve managed to compare Ultron with Tony Stark, and to remain unharmed. He also figured out that Ultron knows Sith Lord Darth Sidious’ secret identity.
"And I always took you for a fool." Ultron said, taking a step back.
"I get that often." Steve conceded to that statement. "But I'm no idiot."
  • When a group of Avengers, Jedi and Clones have to rescue Steve from an gladiator ring, they end up facing the Gorog, a giant creature even larger than a Rancor. This beast is ultimately killed when Steve lets the create eat him and subsequently cuts his way out with the borrowed lightsaber of Aayla Secura (although he naturally requires extensive time in the showers afterwards).
  • Ultron establishes himself as Eviler than Thou by giving a No-Sell to Sith lightning.
    Strange Travelers Arc
    The Lost Avengers Arc
  • Chapter 57: Black Panther helping the Wookiees take down a Trandoshan slavers ring.
  • Wanda helping to lead a battle on the surface of Dathomir, using her magic to protect Mother Talzin's clan from the rogue queen.
    • On that note, on seeing from Ros what Zalem had sacrificed to one of Ego's blobs, she pledges herself to help Ros however she can.
    • On another note, she finally becomes what she was born to be: the Scarlet Witch, absorbing and disabling her enemy's abilities with her limitless well of power.
     Battle of Kamino Arc
  • The Battle of Kamino has quite a few;
    • Pietro engages in a lightsaber duel with Grievous and a Sith acolyte, with his speed allowing him to hold his own to such an extent that Grievous is forced to retreat, leaving Pietro to kill the acolyte.
    • One for both sides; after Taskmaster manages to hold his own against a group of Jedi aided by Captain America, Spider-Man, and Black Panther, T'Challa is able to land a suitably disorientating blow for the rest of the group to rally and force Taskmaster into retreat.
    • Natasha is able to use the fighting to hack the Kamino computers and find out about the existence of the inhibitor chips and Order 66, all but ensuring that Palpatine's grand plan is pretty much toast.
  • Chapter 68 sees the first team-up of the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy (Falcon, Wasp, Spider-Man, Daredevil, Black Panther, and Vision with Gamora, Mantis, and HK-47), with a subsequent attack on Mandalore even including a very neat moment as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Gamora fight Ultron drones side-by-side.
  • Chapter 69 has the Vision use the Mind Stone to show the Jedi Council his time with the Bendu through powerful mental visions. They're in awe at what they see.
  • Chapter 70 has a villainous example from Savage Opress, as he destroys a Republic outpost, its clone troopers and the Jedi master and padawan guarding it, despite starting with the "handicap" that he didn't even have a lightsaber at first.
  • There may be an element of Nightmare Fuel, but there's still something impressive about Asajj's discovery of her true potential, inherited from her father... Ego.
     Mortis Arc
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/thor_vs_the_son_by_freemanwriter_dgbu8lh_fullview.jpg
One of the most hype moments in the story. Thor Vs The Son.
  • We finally get to see Mortis in all of its glory, and even with the Avengers changing stuff, the Father, the Son and the Daughter still completely outmatch them. Also awesome is that Spider-Man is called a Totem of the Web, and Vision is a bearer of an Infinity Stone, to say nothing of the aforementioned residents of Mortis being identified as Celestials.
  • Chapter 73:
    • Peter gets a serious upgrade when he finds and bonds with the Venom Symbiote.
    • Vision manages to put up some measure of a fight against the Son with the Mind Stone and the Daughter's help.
    • Just when the Son makes to stab the Father and the Daughter may have to pull a Taking the Bullet move, a new Avenger enters the fray. With a crack of thunder and lightning.
Thor: Come, Celestial. Thor will have words with thee.
  • Chapter 74: The Battle of Mortis, Anakin Skywalker and Thor Odinson face off against the Son and none freaking other than Darth Vader.
     Citadel Arc
  • Chapter 75: As a "graduation test" of becoming new ARC troopers, the 12 clone heroes are tasked to work with Fordo and Alpha in the Battle of Munnilist. Making them the near-silent squad working to sabotage the Seperatists.
    • Only this time, they weren't working with Obi-Wan against them. Instead, it's all of them working together to storm the main base, and defeat Durge without any Jedi or Superhero help (except for the new sonic gadget developed by Peter, Scott, and Hope that lets the clones knock Durge out again).
  • Chapter 77: During the Battle of the Citadel, Scott Lang allows Wrecker, one of the Bad Batch, to join him at giant size for a few minutes, the two smashing through waves of Ultron drones.
     Shang-Chi Arc
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/iron_man_vs_wenwu.jpg
The fight that should have happened in the MCU. Iron Man vs the True Mandarin
  • Chapter 79: Back on Earth, Shaun/Shang-Chi and Katy deals with The Mandarin's mooks who are after his mom's pendant… and it's awesome to see their teamwork in the bus fight, even if the mooks succeed in stealing the pendant.
    • On the other side of the States, Iron Man and Iron Fist are already tracking the Ten Rings. Which means not only will we get to see Shaun face his father, but also Iron Man fighting his arch-enemy, something that was lacking in the MCU.
  • Chapter 82 has the Avengers join the defense of Ta Lo using various dragon-scale-augmented weapons to boost their own abilities, such as She-Hulk wearing dragon-scale knuckledusters to Hawkeye using arrows with these scales on them.
    • Avengers, Ta Lo Force and Shaung, Xialing, Kate succeed in slaying Dweller-in-Darkness.
  • Chapter 83:
    • Shaun and Katy Chen recruited in Avengers team by Tony Stark & others.
    • Post-battle, Celeste Morne successfully cleans Bucky Barnes from HYDRA brainwashing program, after long mind spell.
     To be Guardians Arc
  • Apparently, with their grand reputation in the outer rim, the Guardians/Ravagers are now becoming a huge clan with many taking an interest in joining up.
  • Asajj, trusting in her new sith teacher, manages to channel a force ghost combining the force and Celestial powers. Thus, giving her a chance to speak with her mother for the first time.
  • As part of their quest to break up their rivals, the True Mandalorians and Guardians enlisted Fennec Shand to find where the dark alliance meeting would take place. It took extra time, but the Future Badass of Star Wars managed to return with intel for their raid.
  • Ultron shaming Krennic for always being a small man trying to suck up to much more powerful ones.
  • In the attack, it turns out the Black Sun/Death Watch/krennic alliance had hired a three-member Quirky Mini Boss Squad: Taskmaster, Crossbones and Cade Bane. And the worst part of it is that none of them are outright beaten in the fight, just outmaneuvered.
    • Crossbones is quick to tear up the Red Shirt army attacking.
    • Taskmaster proves an equal to both Asajj wielding new powers and to Gamora.
    • Cad Bane manages to knock Star Lord down during their duel in the sky.
  • To end the fight, Asajj tries out a new ability that expands on what she did with her mother: Force Ghost storm. She summons a host of dead spirits using her powers, and unleashes them on the enemy forces, driving them away from the location.
    Onderon Crisis Arc
  • During a mission to Nelvaan, Peter Parker has to "make amends" for disrupting a Nelvaanian ritual and ends, with the Symbiote's help, destroying a Techno Union plant responsible for abducting and mutating Nelvaanian warriors and freeing the warriors from the Union's mind control in the process.
  • After a run-in with the Chitauri and the Sakaarans, the rebels needs weapons for their cause more than ever. The solution? Peter calls The Guardians of the Galaxy as suppliers.
  • In a dark sense of awesome, Maul and Savage Opress achieve a huge tactical victory in the Battle of Onderon - they awaken Freedon Nadd, kill both kings in the process, are one step closer to the Soul Stone and no one can confirm that they were here.
    Padawan Lost Arc
  • Even with a Force-suppressing collar, Ahsoka is able to take out Ultron-enhanced Trandoshans and work on adapting enemy weaponry to find a way to strike back against her captors.
  • The Reveal of Thrawn alone served as both a "Holy Shit!" and awesome reveal/moment and one that only the keen-eyed readers picked up with the nickname as "red-eyes" being his foreshadowed identity.
  • Natasha actually manages to SILENCE THE SENATE with a frustrated yell to get everyone to calm down and begin proper negotiations around the ceasefire.
  • With the aid of Thrawn's tactical skills, Chewbacca's own power, and Ahsoka to inspire them, the powerless Padawans manage to destroy a Trandoshan slave-ship, and Ahsoka taps into a new level of power.
  • Thrawn meeting both Anakin Skywalker and several Avengers for the first time.
Journey to Tython & Avengers Reunion Arc
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/anakin_skywalker_vs_darth_vader_round_1.jpg
The duel every Star Wars fan has been praying to see and never expected to witness; Anakin Skywalker versus Darth Vader
  • The opening sequence to chapter 96 is a glorious display of the thirteen Avengers in space all fighting as one as they attack a foundry that belongs to Ultron where he creates more drones and converts sentient beings and completely destroy all in their path without even the Republic coming to help them out.
  • Back on Earth, Celeste Morne reaches out to the Infinity Gate, drawing on everything she knows about the Force and the Power Cosmic from her lessons with the Ancient One, and creates a Force ripple back in her home galaxy that is sensed by every Force-wielder, and even those Avengers and Guardians touched by greater powers (Vision, the Maximoffs, Peter Parker, Peter Quill and Mantis).
  • The Bendu giving "The Reason You Suck" Speech on Jedi Order’s stagnation, lack of imagination and will to adapt, mere hoarding knowledge, and their ignorance to Dark Side of the Force , through millenia , while Siths thrived.
  • As much as it may be a case of Nightmare Fuel for Anakin in particular once he learns his opponent's true identity, what's not to be awed about when faced with the notion of Anakin Skywalker in a duel with Darth Vader? And even more awesome, Anakin is able to successfully tap into both the Light and Dark Sides, balancing both aspects within himself, and actually match the fearsome Sith Lord blow for blow.
    • An understated moment happens when the Avengers and Anakin's friends arrive and Vader boasts that none of them can stop him. Scarlet Witch simply flares her powers and asks if he wants to test that. Vader noticeably backs down.
  • The chapter ends with the Avengers and Jedi finally finding the Infinity Gate, the device that leads back to Earth. The first person to greet Steve: Tony Stark, Genius, Billionaire, Playboy, Philanthropist and Hero.
  • Jolee Bindo's "Reason You Suck" Speech to Jedi Order, its no attachment rule, and to Dark Side in Holocron recording
  • The first Anakin/Vader clash was dramatic on its own, but in their second battle on Tython, Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, Peter, Steve, Sam, Captain Rex and Domino Squad join the battle, which ends as Anakin vows to keep fighting the influence of the Dark Side and avoid Vader's mistake of essentially giving up.
    • A bonus in the clash between Anakin and Vader is Anakin's "Reason You Suck" Speech towards his Dark side. Finally, after years of media portraying Vader as an unstoppable force and a product and example of the Jedi's failures, it is Vader's younger self who finally calls him out; that for all his pain and trauma, Vader's fall truly was his own fault for he allowed himself to succumb to his fears.
     Into the Spider-Verse Arc
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/spider_verse.jpg
The eight Spiders of the Spider-Gang (clockwise from top right; Peter Parker in the symbiote, Miles Morales, Peter B. Parker, Peter Porker/Spider-Ham, Spider-Man Noir, Jedi Padawan Peter Park'r, Peni Parker and SP//DR, and Gwen Stacy/Ghost Spider)
  • Darth Sidious's having an inner Villainous Breakdown , especially after Doctor Strange and Mordo reveal that the Masters of the Mystic Arts are offering to teach certain Jedi and Clones their own sorcery if anyone's interested.
  • Infinite Wars Spider-man meeting a Jedi Variant of him. That alone is awesome. And getting a Spider-Verse arc is also exciting.
  • The confrontation at Alchemax becomes more dramatic as the opposing forces include the Sinister Six of this world (Doctor Octopus, Shocker, Electro, Scorpion, Rhino and Hammerhead), facing the now-six-person Spider-Gang (IW!Peter, Jedi!Peter, Old Peter, Peni Parker, Gwen Stacy and Miles Morales, although Miles hangs back due to a lack of experience).
    • The battle ends when IW!Peter uses the Sinister Six's shock of Hammerhead's loss of an arm to Jedi!Peter to beat and web them up by himself.
  • The final battle of the Collider, as the eight Spiders face the Kingpin's minions and manage to come together as a true team, taking down most of the villains and leaving them to be arrested while forcing Electro into retreat.
  • It's awesome to see for the readers in contrast to the Nightmare Fuel , that Frank Castle AKA The Punisher will bring now that he's in the Star Wars galaxy after the multiversal "Glitch Storm" displaced him from Earth to the Galaxy Far, Far Away.
     Ultron Imperative Arc
    Timeline and Trailer
  • Chapter 109 & 110 have this Foreshadowing :

    • Plo Koon showing Anakin and Ahsoka the use of his Electric Judgement.

    • Thor VS. Son rematch.
    • In the end of chapter 110, Odin Borson met Revan four thousand years ago.
    Victory... For Now arc
  • Chapter 111:
    • Thrawn manages to guide the Republic/Confederacy fleet through a dangerous hyperspace route without any casualties where even Ultron's machine mind lost a significant portion of his fleet.
    • In the final clash with Ultron, literally every available Avenger (amounting to twenty-nine heroes at this point) gets a chance to deliver at least one blow to Ultron, culminating in Tony Stark landing the killing blow.
      • A small moment during the chapter but a detail that shows the growing knowledge and power of the Jedi when Obi-Wan deflects one of Ultron's attacks using a Force-based Soresu technique when his lightsaber was knocked out of his hand.
  • Chapter 114:
    • While the revival of many Sith Lords warrant them to be in the Nightmare Fuel category, this also adds into the building hype of the eventual clash of these enemies with the Avengers, many that have artwork conveying their battles to come.
