I think that I'll keep loving you way past sixty-five,
We made a language for us two, we don't need to describe,
Every time you call on me, I drop what I do,
'Cause you are my best friend and we've got some shit to shoot.
— Sofi Tukker, "Best Friend"

Sofi Tukker (often stylized as SOFI TUKKER) is a Florida-based American musical duo consisting of Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern. They are best known for their singles "Drinkee", "Best Friend", and "Purple Hat".

The band is known for taking heavy inspiration from Brazilian culture, including writing many of their songs in Portuguese, despite neither of them being from Brazil (Sophie is originally from Germany, while Tucker hails from Massachusetts.)

Albums include:

  • Soft Animals (2016)
  • Treehouse (2018)
  • Dancing on the People (2019)
  • Wet Tennis (2022)

Tropes associated with this band:

  • Career-Ending Injury: Halpern was a basketball player in college before an illness forced him to take time off. He became a DJ, then focused on becoming a musician and then met Hawley-Weld, who he immediately recruited.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: The video for "Kakee" features Sophie playing her guitar while lying on the ground with her legs splayed, skirt bunched up, and the body of the guitar against her crotch as she fingers... the guitar.
  • Even the Girls Want Her: In the video for "Jacare", Tucker is getting close to a young woman who immediately leaves him after he introduces her to Sophie.
  • Food Porn: The video for "Kakee" shows Sophie suggestively biting into a fruit, with the juice dripping all over her scantly-clad torso.
  • Intimate Lotion Application: In the music video for "Jacare", the flirtation between Sophie and Victoria begins with Victoria rubbing sunscreen onto Sophie's back.
  • Mistaken for Gay: Due to his flamboyant fashion sense and the fact that the duo has an enormous LGBT fanbase, Tucker has been mistaken for gay more than a few times.
  • Real Men Wear Pink: Tucker favors bright, flamboyant clothing.
