PinkPantheress (born 2001) is an English singer, songwriter, and record producer.

In early 2021, while studying film at the University of the Arts in London, she posted several songs to TikTok that went viral, including "Just A Waste", "Pain", and her Breakthrough Hit "Break It Off", resulting in her signing to Parlophone and Elektra Records in June 2021. She subsequently scored further hits with "Just for Me", "Where You Are" (with Willow Smith), and Central Cee's "Obsessed with You" (which sampled the aforementioned "Just for Me"). She won BBC's Sound of 2022 poll and has been nominated for three NME Awards. In 2023, she scored her first major US hit with "Boy's a Liar Pt. 2", a collaboration with Ice Spice.

She took her stage name from her username on TikTok, taken originally from a question on The Chasenote  as well as The Pink Panther film series.

Her music is notably eclectic in terms of influences, with heavy use of sampling, and has been described variously as Bedroom Pop, Drum and Bass, Indie Pop, jungle, hyperpop and UK garage.

Discography:

  • To Hell With It (EP) (2021)
  • Heaven knows (2023)

Her work includes the following tropes:

  • all lowercase letters: Most of her song titles are stylized in sentence case.
  • Anonymous Band: Her real name isn't public knowledge and she's credited as PinkPantheress in all contexts, including songwriting credits. She makes no effort to disguise her appearance in photoshoots, music videos, or concerts, though.
  • Break-Up Song: "All My Friends Know".
  • The Cameo: Provides uncredited vocals on "Cake" by Remi Wolf.
  • Face on the Cover: All of her releases so far.
  • Genre-Busting: Her music has been described variously as Bedroom Pop, Drum and Bass, Indie Pop, jungle, Hyperpop and UK garage.
  • Miniscule Rocking: Known for this. Many of her songs don't even break the 2 minute mark, which has led to some Memetic Mutation online.
  • One-Woman Song: "Ophelia."
  • Sampling: A key part of her production style. More specifically:
    • "Just a Waste" is built around samples of two iconic Michael Jackson songs from Off the Wall, its title track and "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin"
    • "Pain" samples the Sunship edit of "Flowers" by Sweet Female Attitude.
    • "Break It Off" samples the introduction and drum break from "Circles" by Adam F.
    • "I Must Apologise" samples the riff from "Gypsy Woman (She's Homeless)" by Crystal Waters and the drums from "Fool's Gold" by The Stone Roses.
    • "Last Valentines" samples "Forgotten" by Linkin Park.
    • "Where You Are" samples "Never Let This Go" by Paramore.
    • Central Cee sampled her song "Just for Me" into his 2021 hit "Obsessed with You".
  • Soprano and Gravel: Downplayed, since Ice Spice isn't quite "gravel," but her lower register rapping contrasts with PinkPantheress's light soprano.
  • Textless Album Cover: To Hell With It and "Heaven knows.''
  • A Wild Rapper Appears!: Ice Spice on the "Boy's a liar pt. 2" remix.
