Hampton the Hamster is a name given to the characters created for "The Hamster Dance" website and song, and was turned into a music group by the Boomtag Boys. The song is a staple of pop culture and is most known on the internet. It has been remixed and memed multiple times, and was featured in numerous media, even Family Guy.

Due to the success, the Boomtag Boys decided to turn the project into a virtual band and attempted to turn it into a franchise, which had tiny success compared to the song. The characters are Fuzzy, Hedo, and Dixie, besides Hampton himself.

Hampton the Hamster contains examples of:

  • Ear Worm: "Sing a Simple Song" is about everyone in the entire world singing Fuzzy's song, and he becomes famous because of it.
  • "Everybody Laughs" Ending: "Sing a Simple Song" ends with the last, "Hyde Hyde Hop!", before all the hamsters fall on the couch laughing.
  • I Have Many Names: There is Hampton the Hamster for the solo songs, and then there's his group, Hampton and the Hamsters. However, sometimes either of these names are used.
  • Political Overcorrectness: How the Hamsters Saved Winter does not mention Christmas or any reference to the holiday, it's just about them saving winter.
  • Not Even Bothering with the Accent: Fuzzy is from Australia, but sounds American instead.
  • Sampling: "Whistle Stop", which was used in Robin Hood (1973), is used as the chorus in "The Hamsterdance Song".
  • Self-Empowerment Anthem: The hamster version. "A Hamster's Life" and "Even Hamsters Fall in Love".
  • Virtual Celebrity: Hampton, Fuzzy, Hedo, and Dixie were advertised as this.
  • World Tour: In the video for "Hamsterdance Song", the hamsters go on tour on Fuzzy's surfboard and inspire the world to dance to their song.
  • You Don't Look Like You: In How the Hampsters Saved Winter, their looks were entirely changed to being CGI instead of 2D. It's like night and day seeing the differences side-by-side.
