The brothers gonna trope it out

  • Alliterative Title: "Alive Alone".
  • Continuity Nod: The titles of the album Exit Planet Dust and song "In Dust We Trust" are a reference to the early name of the group.
  • Deliberately Monochrome: The music video for "Life Is Sweet".
  • Epic Rocking: "Life Is Sweet", which is six minutes long.
  • Fading into the Next Song: The first six tracks are entirely gapless. Also, "Life Is Sweet" → "Playground for a Wedgeless Firm".
  • Idiosyncratic Episode Naming: Downplayed, but for some reason, tracks 4 to 6 have titles that end up with the word "beats"; "Three Little Birdies Down Beats", "Fuck Up Beats" and "Chemical Beats".
  • Intentionally Awkward Title: "Fuck Up Beats".
  • Limited Lyrics Song: The first track "Leave Home", also doubling with Looped Lyrics, has the lyrics at the start of the song with this:
The brothers gon' work it out
  • Miniscule Rocking: "Fuck Up Beats", which is one minute and a half long.
  • Sampling:
    • The line "The brothers gonna work it out" "Leave Home" is based techno artist Blake Baxter's "Brothers Gonna Work It Out". The song also samples Kraftwerk's "Ohm Sweet Ohm"
    • "Song to the Siren" uses reversed vocal samples from "Song to Sophia" by Goth Rock band Dead Can Dance, as well "God O.D." by Meat Beat Manifesto.
    • One Too Many Mornings" uses samples of the songs "Peekaboo" and "Follow Me Down", both from the shoegaze band Swallow.
  • Special Guest: Tim Burgess from the Britpop group The Charlatans sings the vocals in "Life Is Sweet" and folk musician Beth Orton provides her vocals in the closing track "Alive Alone".

And she shines
Still she shines for me
She shines for me
