Acrania is a Deathcore band hailing from London, England. Formed in 2012, they have made a name for themselves thanks to their slam/deathcore hybrid sound and their politically charged lyrics, and while they aren't the most prolific with albums, their influence within the scene is undeniable.

LOOK! LOOK AT THE STATE OF THE WORLD! A TROPETALITARIAN DYSTOPIA!

  • Anti-Police Song: "Disillusion in a Discordant System", more specifically for corruption within the police force and its lack of accountability it has for its actions.
  • Careful with That Axe: Very, very common thanks to Luke Griffin's vocal style.
  • Deathcore: Of the slam-tinged variant along with Signs of the Swarm, Vulvodynia, Ingested, and Within Destruction. Sound-wise, they lean closer to the deathcore part of the slamming deathcore sound.
  • Epic Rocking: "A Gluttonous Abomination" off of Totalitarian Dystopia at 6 minutes 23 seconds.
  • Indecipherable Lyrics: Luke is one of the more infamous offenders of this trope thanks to his liberal use of pig squeals and Motor Mouth.
  • Metal Scream: Types 1, 2, and 3 are used in conjunction with hefty amounts of pig squeals.
  • Motor Mouth: Frequently used in their music.
  • Nobody Loves the Bassist: The band hasn't had a consistent bassist since 2013, with Jack Simmons handling bass and with guitar after Sam Bonnett left
  • Older Than They Look: Luke looks like he's in his 20s, but is actually 34
  • Police Brutality: Again, "Disillusion in a Discordant System". See Anti-Police Song above
  • Protest Song: Their discography is practically made up of these, with "Disillusion in a Discordant System" the most well-known example.
  • Special Guest: They've had guest appearances from Tom Barber (ex-Lorna Shore, Chelsea Grin, Darko US), Jamie Hanks (I Declare War, Sacrificer, ex-Those Who Lie Beneath), Ben Duerr, and CJ McCreery (ex-Signs of the Swarm, ex-Lorna Shore, Immortal Disfigurement) while Kevin Schwartz (ex-Pathology), Ben Ellis (Scar Symmetry, ex-Bloodshot Dawn), and Mendel bij de Leij (ex-Aborted) have contributed guitar work.
  • Start My Own: Luke Griffin started Human Error and SHUSH as side projects of his own outside of his work with the band. Scribe of Existence, on the other hand is a band that Luke and Jake both played in before they set up Acrania, but had to put on hiatus for a short time after Acrania gained popularity.
