Surviving As A Cannon Fodder by akane_youkai is a story on Wattpad and Novel Cat. Both of which can be found here and here

Eunseo was once an ordinary enough college student, but upon getting killed in a sudden hit-and-run, she wakes up as Angelica Ashford. Years go by, and she realises she is a disposable cannon fodder. Angelica decides to fight her fate and escape the main plot of the story. But here she is, still stuck in the mess she tried to escape from.

Can Eunseo still survive her fate and keep on Surviving As A Cannon Fodder?

Tropes for the story include:

  • All Girls Want Bad Boys: Angelica even acknowledges this trope considering her crush on the Joker and she liked Edward's character in the OG novel. However when it comes to reality she rather not deal with that.
  • Batman Gambit: Edward comes up with one to directly bring Angelica back into Orion. By giving her and her group a mission to return an "object". By redirecting other mercenary groups on long-term missions, implied to control the guild which supplied her with information to ease her suspicions but also not suspect anything as she returns back in his arms. He succeds
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: Angelica to a tee. She is incredibly clever especially when it comes to fighting but she also doesn't want to bother much with learning again.
  • Convenient Coma: Edward is in one when we first meet him and he has been in one for quite some time. He was cursed by Havu which left him in such a state. It is also the reason why Angelica is brought by his household to marry him due to him being in a vulnerable position. And also because the previous saint has mysteriously vanished. "we actually are seen more of the process and how Edward got cursed in the first place and the extent of it and after the time skip he is no longer in one.
  • Foreshadowing
    • Two actually in one scene. Angelica when Edward is still in his coma notices that his heart is beating extraordinarily fast and is worried since it is one of the symptoms of a mana outburst that one of the original male leads got. It could mean Edward's mana could potentially explode making him a resident nuke. It's both foreshadowings that Edward is completely aware of his surroundings and giving the readers Five-Second Foreshadowing before Angelica's own mana outburst near the end of Act 2.
  • Internal Reveal: Edward gets this once Eunseo/ Angelica unintentionally reveals she lived in another life and it completely changes his perspective of the world he lives in and of Angelica herself since he didn't know why she knew specific knowledge about him.
  • In the Blood: Angelica and her Grandmother Maria Ashford share a lot of similarities. Maria was also Angelica's main mentor in fighting and Angelica is quite close to her. Always keeping a pendent given to her close by.
  • Ironic Name: In-Universe Angelica is noted to be a nightmare of a child, completely wild and becomes the Dreaded despite being an Unsorcerer. Her original name Eunseo also applies meaning Charitable and Merciful. Two qualities Angelica is quite lacking in that department. But in many other ways it is also a fitting name. Considering the imagery of a Angel she does bring, The assassin who remarks on her as she is falling down a cliff to her death and when she is going through a Mana implosion.
  • Literal Cliffhanger: The first chapter shows this with Angelica at the end of a cliff hanging on for dear life and it was how the original Angelica's died.
  • Screw Destiny: the entire premise of the story essentially and once it comes to the moment Angelica was destined to die. Angelica even says to Edward still in his coma, You Can't Fight Fate but that doesn't mean you can't try. And try she does.
  • Yandere: Edwards shows this with the original protangist Helen Lanyon. and once he learns more about Angelica unbeknownst to her. He starts getting obsessed with her too. He also acknowledges that he can't exactly use force to get to her considering Angelica's character would've taken in badly. So he has to use more sneaky tactics to get her back into the country and home.
Edward Frost: "I would have found my wife but lost Angelica in the process."
