Remember kids, if you see this guy in a truck giving out candy, RUN!

1999, also known as 1999: Creepypasta, 1999: Caledon Local 21 or Mr. Bear's Cellar, is a Creepypasta story. It is formatted as a pseudo-blog written by a man named Elliot, who discovered a strange local-access channel called Caledon Local 21 as a young boy. As he grows up, he realizes how twisted it is. The owner of it kidnaps children with intent to sacrifice them. It can be found here.

Not to be confused with the Prince album.

Tropes found in 1999:

  • Abandoned Area: Mr. Bear's house and the woods surrounding it, sans for a duo of teenaged boys who seem to hang out there from time to time.
  • Bears Are Bad News: Mr. Bear kidnaps and sacrifices kids to the devil. Subverted as he's not actually a bear, but a man in a bear suit.
  • Beary Friendly: Subverted so, so much with Mr. Bear. He acts all sweet in his show but in real life he killed children.
  • Bloodier and Gorier: The show starts off normal, then goes off the deep end.
  • Big Bad: The titular Mr. Bear is the host of his childrens’ TV show, which he used to lure children to kill them. The story mostly concerns the protagonist Elliot sitting through tapes of his show and discovering his crimes.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Mr. Bear may act sweet at times, but only to charm children that he plans to murder. He reveals an insane, violent side in some of the episodes before revealing his true nature in the final episodes, making readers wonder just how bad he is off camera.
  • Creepy Basement: Mr. Bear's cellar.
  • Crucified Hero Shot: In this case a crucified villain shot. One episode of Mr. Bear's Cellar ended with a shot of the killer's bear costume laid out in the shape of a cross with "INRI" scribed above it.
  • Death of a Child: The final episode of Mr. Bear's Cellar was the footage of him burning 16 children alive.
  • Cut Short: Given the blog has not been updated for a long time, this is a possibility.
  • Depraved Kids' Show Host: Mr. Bear made a local TV channel as a way to lure children to sacrifice.
  • Don't Go in the Woods: Elliot goes into the woods near Mr. Bear's abandoned house and finds the pit where he burned the 16 children.
  • Faux Affably Evil: Mr. Bear acted nice in his show, but he forced kids to take part in his Satanic rituals by sacrificing them to Satan.
  • Gorn: Mr. Bear's cellar, woods, and show in general...
  • Karma Houdini: Mr. Bear was never caught and is still at large. He may or may not be attempting to contact Elliot, though it is never made clear if this is real or fake.
  • Known Only by Their Nickname: The owner of Caledon Local 21 is known only by his stage name Mr. Bear.
  • Malevolent Masked Men: Mr. Bear wears a bear costume, and murders children.
  • Man on Fire: Mr. Bear went on to burn 16 children alive.
  • Misanthrope Supreme: Mr. Bear is a Satanist who views all of humanity as being garbage. He decided to take out his contempt towards the human race by sacrificing children to the Devil.
  • Nothing Is Scarier: The fact that Mr. Bear was never caught and after the blog starts, Mr. Bear finds it and apparently tries to lure Elliot to him.
  • Satan: Who Mr. Bear makes his sacrifices to.
  • Serial Killer: Mr. Bear, it is unknown if he stopped killing once his house was discovered or if he continued killing without the show. Given he starts to stalk Elliot, it's highly likely it is the latter.
  • Snuff Film: Mr. Bear would film the murders and make them the centerpiece of his shows.
  • Subverted Kids' Show: The children's show starts out silly yet idiotic then gets dark after a couple of episodes when the host reveals his murderous intentions.
  • The Call Knows Where You Live: The blog gets "hijacked" by Mr. Bear at one point, and Elliot also gets sent an email by Mr. Bear stating that he is fixing up his home just for him.
  • Who Writes This Crap?!: Elliot thought that at the end of the day, some episodes were really stupid. Then, Mr. Bear starts killing children.
