I was summoned to another world as a "weak" character with this skill called "walking" can I and the rest summoned here ever go home?
Originally labeled "Walking in Another World" as a web-novel, the title was officially shortened to Isekai walking for the manga adaptation.

The story follows Sora Fujimiya, who was summoned, along with six others, in a classic Summon Everyman Hero ceremony to fight a revived Demon King. But since his stats are all 1, and he only has the magic skill "Walking: Never get tired while walking. Gain one point of exp for every step", which is not obviously combat flashy, he's summarily dragged out of the castle and just dumped in the streets of the capital to fend for himself, with a bag containing only two gold coins thrown at his feet.

Fortunately, the townspeople are actually far more welcoming and treat him fairly. He soon learns that his [Walking] skill is far more useful than advertised as he starts unlocking other, far more useful, skills as he levels it up.

Associated Tropes:

  • Adaptation Deviation: Downplayed. In the original novel, Sora is dragged out of the castle and has a bag of two gold coins thrown at his feet. In the manga, Sora is instead loaded onto a carriage and literally thrown out into the streets, with a bag holding 2 silver and 10 copper coins.
  • Cerebus Syndrome: In the novel version of events, when Sora encounters Ignis, the demon, things become much bleaker. The townsfolk he meets are a lot less friendly. The adventurers he encounters are, by and large, more selfish and arrogant, and battles not only become more frequent, but become far deadlier, with Sora having to fight several monsters high-rank adventurers would normally flee from, for the sake of their lives.
  • Crapsaccharine World: The new world looks great at first glance, with the people of the royal capital being very friendly and open, and even the adventurer's guild looks scary but the adventurers are really nice folks that welcome the newcomer with open arms and even celebrate when a scrawny looking guy in Nerd Glasses finally confesses to the girl he's had a crush on for 27 years, and she apparently reciprocates, but it soon becomes apparent that the world is not all sunshine and rainbows. Nearby cities and villages face the constant threat of extermination by encroaching monsters, slavery is a very real danger, with Sora's main squeeze Chris nearly getting snatched up by a slaver when she goes there to investigate possible sightings of a childhood friend that actually was snatched up and sold into slavery when her village fell in a war years ago, and she's been looking ever since, and the reason for the war is that the Human Supremacist empire of Boschell attacked the all-inclusive kingdom of Edol, with at least 5 other kingdoms dragged into the fighting. The only reason the war is on hold is because a Demon King resurrected and became a threat to everyone, sending powerful monsters out to exterminate all other races.
  • Difficult, but Awesome: Sora's skill [Walking] is not only completely lackluster and difficult to use properly, but has a built in diminishing rate of returns, with each level taking more and more walking to reach, but used wisely, the skill points he uses to unlock other skills, with levels of their own, are real game changers.
  • Everyone Can See It: The fact that Sora and Chris are mutually attracted to each other is glaringly obvious and everyone comments on it.
  • Great Offscreen War: Yes, the threat of a demon king is very real. The fact that a pack of Wolfs appeared where they shouldn't near the royal capital of Elesya turns out to have been the result of a high-rank monster leading an advanced force, preparing to attack. It was only settled quickly thanks to Sora, Chris, and Rurukia managing to escape and bring word to the adventurer's guild by pure chance. The war is going on, but Sora, the protagonist and viewpoint character, is not on the front lines, because he's too weak to be there.
  • Happiness in Slavery: The slavery system in the new world is heavily idealized.
    • While the magical slave contract makes it so slaves can not harm their masters, that part of the contract is immediately null if the masters try to harm the slaves first, and trying to have sex with slaves without their fully informed consent is considered "harm" under the contract magic.
    • Slaves can earn the money to buy their freedom, though the means to actually earn that money are limited.
    • [Special] class slaves have certain inalienable rights and must be freed when the special circumstances that enslaved them are resolved. Case in point, Sora once brings a 10-year-old orphan "that he found on the road" to the guard as he's entering town and since the child is underage, he either has to hand her over to an orphanage, which she didn't like the idea of, or put her in a slave collar until she's of legal age and can get a proper ID. Sora chooses the latter.
  • Invisible to Normals: Spirits, like the cute creature sitting on Sora's head in the page image, are normally completely invisible to the locals unless they want to be seen. People are usually aware of them only by virtue of the collateral actions, like food disappearing when they eat. Sora can see them just fine. The why isn't explained, at least in the parts translated for the manga to date.
  • Loophole Abuse: Sora quickly learns that the "never gets tired when walking" aspect of his skill applies even when he overburdens himself. So he takes up a job as a porter, and as long as he can get the goods physically off the ground, never gets tired or worn down carrying them around. Naturally, he starts hauling massive amounts of goods and building up his strength stat in a hurry.
  • Magikarp Power: The [Walking] skill itself isn't that great, but using it rewards him with easy experience and allows him to instantly learn/level up completely unrelated skills of his choosing, which makes it even easier to gain experience if he chooses the right skills.
  • Morality Kitchen Sink: With the possible exception of the human supremacist Boschel Empire, none of the factions are monolithic. Elysia's government is clearly unsavory, but the capital citizens are, without exception, friendly and polite. The backwater village that put out a goblin extermination quest didn't send an update when the goblin numbers grew at an alarming rate, both because they had no time to send the update and couldn't afford the higher rewards they would need to pay for the increased level of threat. Adventurers and merchants in other countries who have a more favorable government are generally more unruly and arrogant. Slave merchants are actually respectable. Even the demon king's armies are a mixed bag.
  • Officially Shortened Title: The title of the web-nobel was "Walking in Another World", which was shortened to "Isekai Walking" for the manga.
  • Slow Life Fantasy: Sure, Sora may have become an adventurer to pay the bills, and there was a summon at the start to deal with a Demon King, but battles are rare and most of Sora's days are filled with simply walking to and fro, trying to explore and learn his place in the world.
  • Summon Everyman Hero: Sora and six others are summoned by an other-world ritual to fight a Demon King at the start of the story.
  • Trapped in Another World: It's only a rumor that Sora and the others can get back home if the Demon King is defeated, as even the king has no evidence one way or the other, presuming he's telling the truth.
  • Twice Shy: One of Sora's first quests for the adventurer's guild is delivering a love letter to a seemingly stern woman who becomes a blushing mess as she insists he deliver her reply. When the reply is delivered to the man who wrote the love letter, he turns into an even bigger blushing mess before reading it.
    • Later on, Sora and Chris are this way with each other.
