Much like its Spiritual Predecessor Touken Ranbu, since the game has an all-male cast aside from the gender-neutral player character, this is pretty much expected. These are the most frequent pairings:

  • Tokuda Shūsei & Izumi Kyōka is pretty much the number one ship in this fandom due to their literally getting the first writer-writer interaction in the game, their senpai/kohai relationship, their vaguely boke-tsukkomi dynamic plus their complex rivalry despite studying under the same mentor which comes off as Belligerent Sexual Tension.
    • And then comes the fifth day of the app version's third anniversary where these two are asked to play Romeo and Juliet respectively. Rejoicing doesn't even begin to describe the state of the shippers.
  • Akutagawa Ryūnosuke & Dazai Osamu due to the latter's complete and utter obsession for the former (IwantAkutagawaaward anyone?)
  • Izumi Kyōka & Nakajima Atsushi since the latter has respect and adoration for the former, the former expresses concern and understanding for the latter, and even Inner Atsushi softens his attitude towards the former.
  • Ozaki Kōyō & either/both of his students, for obvious reasons. The three's relationships are explored across multiple recollections, and it doesn't help that Kyōka has a complete and utter Like a God to Me attitude towards him.
  • Ozaki Kōyō & Kōda Rohan as they were massively popular historically as the "Kōro Era" pair, they get along well and share the same concern about their literature's falling out of favor with new audiences, plus the fact they were actually rivals.
  • Nagai Kafū & Tanizaki Jun'ichirō due to their constantly praising each other in their lines, the latter's Fan Boy and Stalker without a Crush tendencies towards the former which the former wholeheartedly appreciates, plus the latter's actually caring about the former's well-being.
  • Shiga Naoya & Mushanokōji Saneatsu due to their status as fellow founding fathers of the Shirakaba faction, their friendship despite their contrasting personalities, and how Musha's shelteredness and Shiga's maturity play off and accentuate each other.
  • Hagiwara Sakutarō & Murō Saisei due to their close "two souls, one body" friendship, plus the fact the former might canonically be in love with the latter judging from their recollection. This becomes hilarious with the knowledge that the real Hagiwara Sakutarō was homosexual and reportedly admitted to being briefly in love with Saisei.
  • Kawabata Yasunari & Yokomitsu Riichi due to their friendship, the latter's Translator Buddy role towards the former, the vaguely boke-tsukkomi feel that results from this, plus the latter's understanding the former so well he can read the former's intentions through his eyes.
  • Edogawa Ranpo & Nakajima Atsushi also gains a fan following despite – or rather because of – the former's comical Stalker without a Crush tendency towards the latter out of curiosity for his Jekyll & Hyde nature.
  • Atsushi's two personalities together, as is standard fandom treatment for Jekyll & Hyde characters. The fact there's an event where he literally gets split in two only fans the flame.
  • Dazai Osamu & Nakahara Chūya as their usual antics (a reference to their real-life encounter where Chūya drunkenly tormented Dazai until he cried) can be seen as loving bully or bully turned buddy as they occasionally go drinking, and act like friends when they're both drunk. In Chūya's birthday recollection, they can be seen having a heartfelt conversation while drunk in a sepia flashback, and Ango says that they later returned with their arms on each other's shoulders, singing.
  • Even though Dan Kazuo is considered an important friend to the rest of the Decadents, hints of him with Dazai Osamu is the strongest. The former was fiercely protective of the latter, constantly affirms the latter's talent, fought tooth and nail to put the latter on the literary map, and was (rather hilariously) willing to die with the former.
  • Dan Kazuo and Kusano Shinpei are shown running an Izakaya together, and in Dan's debut event, Shinpei says he loves him and wants to see him soon.
  • Kitamura Tōkoku & Shimazaki Tōson is hinted at strongly in the former's release event: he is textbook Yandere for the latter, even willing to go so far as to openly dismiss their associates in their presence and try to kill them out of obsession for his friend.
  • Kitamura Tōkoku & Tayama Katai, while not to the extent of the one right above. The latter frequently mistakes the former for a girl, and the former likes to tease the latter because of it, but that's not all – in the latter's letter to the former, the two are implied to have had sex.
  • Uchida Hyakken shapes up to be this with Natsume Sōseki from the get-go.
Hyakken: I like trains, harps, wine, little birds, cats… plus Sōseki-sensei!
  • Edgar Allan Poe & H. P. Lovecraft as they seem reasonably close and the latter holds a level of respect for the former that has hints of Like a God to Me at times.
  • The interaction between Fyodor Dostoevsky & Lev Tolstoy is highly ship-teasey even in their introduction event and somewhat similar to Kafū and Tanizaki above; the latter harbors obvious Fan Boy admiration for the former, straight-up says he loves the former, and the former's attitude towards the latter smacks of Tsundere undertones.
