How does dessert sound?

Not every Witch's Heart storybook ends on a bad note, and not everyone is heartless monster at the core. The story can still have moments that warm your heart.

SPOILERS ARE UNMARKED, READ WITH CAUTION!

    Main Game

Ashe's Route

  • Noel tries to see Sirius after he was enraged during the storytelling night, and Claire joins in to help him call Sirius' name over and over outside the room until he replies. Their efforts pay off as Sirius eventually opens the door and let them in, after they tell him they are both worried about him. Bonus point for the duo's social skills as they manage to tell Sirius that using violence on Ashe is not good but avoid putting the blame on any of them.
    • Made more heartwarming when it's later revealed that these three were Childhood Friends.
  • Claire comforts Ashe when he throws up in the kitchen sink after Sirius' corpse was discovered. Despite the situation where everyone suspects each other, she still cares for a total stranger whom she just met for two or three days.
  • Noel may be the most mysterious resident of the mansion and number one suspect as he has gone missing for a while, but he really cares for Claire, trying to warn her against approaching himself in case he was Sirius' murderer. Claire just cheerfully replies that there's nothing to worry about, since if he were the murderer, he wouldn't say so.

Wilardo's Route

  • Zizel reads her favorite Witch's Heart storybook for Claire. Don't care about the content, let's look at the fact: Zizel, a prideful purebred demon, reads a book for her pact partner - a human. She even tells Claire to take the pride into her grave.
  • Small Claire, Patricia and the kaleidoscope. We can see how much they appreciated each other through this conversation.
  • The giant, fleshy monster appeared in our first moment stepping into the mansion actually comes and stops Invective from harming Claire and Wilardo. At that moment, once again, showing how kind a person she is, Claire comes up to protect Invective from it.
  • A more...violent example: as Wilardo gives Ashe the No-Holds-Barred Beatdown to get him pay for attacking him earlier, he also considers doing it for Claire.

Sirius' Route

  • While Claire is cooking in Sirius' route, she hums her favorite song from childhood. Then Zizel sings along. d'awww.
Zizel: "You seemed to be having fun, so I wanted to insert myself."
  • Claire has every right to leave Sirius be when they're in Hell, as he is in a hysteria and openly runs away from her out of his false belief that she will betray him "just like them". Instead, she runs after him to calm him down, not wanting to leave him alone and vulnerable in such a situation.
  • When given a chance to run away from Lime and even told to do so by Claire herself, who was in danger, Sirius eventually refuses to as he recalls Claire's words earlier and decides to fight Lime one-on-one in order to save both himself and Claire. This is the same man who straight up refused to fight the miniboss, had to be forced into helping, and pushed all physical-oriented tasks on Claire, people!

Noel's Route

  • We don't get to meet Noel a lot in the previous routes, but the scene where Noel and Claire stargaze together makes the absence paid off. There's not many times you can see Noel happier than this. They even appointed a time to do that again the next day.
    • He hangs a teru teru bonzu doll on the window just to make sure that night the sky is clear so they can observe the stars better, like in their childhood. That's just adorable.
  • The situation with the entire dreamscape created for Claire by Noel. He still remembers fondly of everything she wishes for: the apple orchard, cotton candy bed, tea bathtub, the big cake..., and successfully converted them into a fantasy space dedicated to only her - where she is safe and relaxed from all the gruesome murders in reality. She may not remember him, he cannot go with her to the outside, but seeing her blissful and alive is his greatest happiness.

    Bonus Stage
  • Ashe takes care of Noel and makes him ginger soup with carrot stars because he wasn't able to have dinner. Maybe the true reason is that he saw his sister's image through Noel, still, this is truly one of the most heartwarming scenes.
  • Later, both Noel and Claire ask Ashe how to make carrot stars, and we enter the heartwarming and hilarious cooking scene.
  • Wilardo and Ashe have a rare moment of bonding inside Rouge's fantasy space, with the immortal walks into Ashe playing the piano and decides to give it a listen. Though unknowingly pressing Ashe's Trauma Button, seeing Wilardo not holding back his praises for Ashe's many talents can really make you happy in his steeds, especially those who are in need of some admissions for your efforts.
  • Sirius willingly stays behind to help Claire and Noel run away from the murderous Ashe and Wilardo. He may be a Lovable Coward who would love to stay away from any sign of danger as far as possible, but when it comes to his Childhood Friends, he can and will put his life in danger. Crosses with Moment of Awesome.
  • All of his talk with Sirius earlier does not end in vain, as Wilardo has a Heel Realization upon Sirius' last words and decides to face Ashe to keep the life of Claire and Noel - two innocents - out of his murderous rampage, throwing his chance of a lifetime to end his own suffering into the dumpster in process. Even if it is too late for everything, this proves that Wilardo at the core is still a human with a heart that knows empathy.

    Sirius' Conclusion
  • The page image - Ashe making apple bunnies for dessert. Everyone is in awe of how adorable they're, and Noel internally gushes over Ashe's handiness before realizing he shouldn't let his guard down.
  • The Ending. Noel sacrifices himself so that Claire, Sirius and Wilardo would escape from the mansion. While leading to a Tear Jerker, as he dies, he expresses happiness upon befriending Wilardo and finding that Sirius is becoming a kinder person, showing that Claire wasn't the only person Noel cared about. It becomes even more heartwarming when Ashe decides not to kill Claire to obtain the Witch's Heart, after realizing she reminds him of his dead sister and a pep talk he had with Noel minutes ago. Meanwhile, Sirius decides to live his life at the fullest with Claire, realizing that it's what Dorothy would've wanted for him.
