Heartwarming / Talkin' Toons with Rob Paulsen

Go To

  • Pretty much every time Rob or another voice actor talk about fans at conventions saying that a show/video game that he worked on having a huge impact on their lives.
    • Special mention goes to Steve Blum talking about how fans who grew up watching Toonami would get emotional when they would meet him at conventions.
  • In the Chris Hardwick episode, Rob talks about the time a fan paid him and Maurice LaMarche to do Pinky and the Brain and to wait until his girlfriend shows up. When she shows up and they finish up their act, the fan proposes to her.
    • And then it becomes funny when Maurice says they have to give him his money back "for the divorce".
  • Jennifer Hale mentioning how Mass Effect helped many gamers come out of the closet and gave them the courage to do so.
  • The conversations in general. Not only are most voice actors really great friends with each other, they're all very humble people who know how blessed they are to have the funnest job in the world and to be only semi-famous for it.
    • To build on that: even the guests that Rob isn't personal friends with (which are few and far between; the guy knows a lot of voice actors) manage to have great fun with him. Rob mentions at one point that he's only known one or two voice actors who were jerks, and that they didn't last very long.
  • Rob tells nearly every female performer he has on his show that he has a huge crush on her. In the episode with Mae Whitman and her mother Pat Musick, Mae informs him that all voice actresses have a crush on him, much to his delight.
  • The entire episode where Rob interviews Lara Jill Miller, especially when both started interacting in their character's voices. Such as Pinky asking Lambie how they are going to take over the world. Lambie's answer is by giving them lots of cuddles. In the beginning of the episode, Rob admits that she's adorable. He even calls her "The most cuteiful girl in the world."
  • A small one from Billy West's episode, while Rob is ecstatic to talk to Billy about his beloved role of Stimpy (and later Ren) on The Ren & Stimpy Show, he's also aware of why West was so reluctant to discuss them for so long and hastily adds that West doesn't have to bring up his volatile relationship with R&S creator John Kricfalusi, knowing how often West has had to in the past. While Kricfalusi's name does get a couple of passing mentions, West otherwise keeps the discussion to the characters and clearly has nothing but love for them.
  • Episode 134 has Rob come back after a hiatus of over a year (December 2015 to January 2017) - and he explains that the show was MIA because he was diagnosed with stage III throat cancer during that period and had to undergo brutal treatment to be cured. The header is when he not only emphasises that the experience give him a higher sense of empathy and a more interesting story to tell, but when he thanks his friends - and the ability to laugh - for helping him get through it, while getting audibly emotional. He then brings the whole thing back to the show's tagline: "Laughter is the best medicine, and the cool thing is you can't OD and the refills are free."
  • Before her passing in October 2015, Rob Paulsen managed to interview Peg Dixton (voice of Rudolph's mother Mrs. Donner) for a special Christmas Episode of "Talkin Toons" in 2014 during the 50th anniversary of the Rankin/Bass' Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. While she was 91 at the time, she was very happy to know the general public is able to identify her as Rudolph's mother and very proud to know how the special has impacted the lives of people and children of different generations.
  • The times when Rob reminisces with frequent Disney actors like Bill Farmer and April Winchell about the deep romance between Wayne Allwine and Russi Taylor, and how they truly embodied their characters, Mickey and Minnie Mouse.
    • A mix between heartwarming and funny is when Winchell talks about how when she first met the two while doing her first session as Clarabelle Cow and saw Russi sitting on Wayne's lap, she - unaware at the time that they were in a relationship - assumed that they were just doing some intense method acting.
