In General

  • The protagonist and Professor Fig's Intergenerational Friendship. It's clear that they are much closer than a typical student and professor, with the protagonist treating more like a parental figure and Fig treating them more like his own son/daughter. Professor Fig is the protagonist's only adult confidant throughout their journey and it's clear they care very much for each other, to the point that other characters notice (Ominis straight up refers to him as 'your precious Professor Fig'). It's no wonder the protagonist is so heartbroken after his death, no matter which ending it is. They are seen close to tears at the end during his memorial at the end of the game.
  • Professor Weasley has always shown genuine concern over the protagonist. With the Headmaster more concerned with his reputation and position than the students, it's Professor Weasley who makes sure that the protagonist is well adjusted to the new school year. As the year goes on, she worries constantly about their excursions and the 'errands' they're running for Professor Fig. Although she is not replacement for Professor Fig, she does present herself as a supportive adult figure to them after he passes and seeks the protagonist out to see how they're doing emotionally and with their progress in the school year.
  • All the professors (except for Black) go out of their way to make sure that the protagonist is welcomed in their classes and even gives them extra coursework to make sure they're keeping up alright.
  • Professor Ronen is absolutely in love with teaching and you can tell he's extremely passionate about it. He didn't have a very 'fun' learning experience growing up and resolves to do better with his students by emphasizing how important 'play' is in learning. In his office, you can find notes where he is brainstorming new games for his students to learn and have fun with and is also always happy to speak with the protagonist anytime they wish to speak to him outside class. Ronen even extends this worry beyond his class, showing concern with his students in Professor Binns who has been finding the students 'lethargic'. His enthusiasm and passion seems to be working, as students will often mention how much they actually enjoy his class and that its the only one that doesn't bore them. Everyone needs a teacher like him.
Professor Ronen: Try to have a bit of fun today, eh?
  • Ominis' loyalty to Sebastian is incredible. Ominis despises his family, but is willing to use his connection and throw around his name to make sure Sebastian stays out of trouble, even making sure he stays out of Azkaban. For someone who experienced such horrible things in his childhood at the hands of his own family, it's clear that he cares about his Best Friend more than that.
  • In the books and the other HP games, Slytherins are often seen as egotistical jerks at best and homicidal mass murderers at worse, like as soon as you're sorted into that house, you're basically one of the evil ones. In this game, they're depicted as just like anyone else, with members such as Ominis Gaunt wanting to avoid the Dark Arts all together because they believe Slytherin is so much more than that and the whole 'pure-blood' worship.
  • Any of the baby beasts you can breed. They range from Ugly Cute to a Ridiculously Cute Critter. Shout out to baby Mooncalfs with comically large eyes and stubby feet and the extremely tiny waddling baby Niffler.

World

  • Sometimes, you can find a trio of what appears to be seventh years talking about graduation. A Tsundere student talks about how she was definitely not going to miss her two friends, but is trying hard to be serious and share her feelings about them. They joke that she has taken Alihosty and she declares that she won't miss them. Then her friend responds with this, completely defrosting her:
Student: I simply wanted you both to know, both of you, but mainly you - that's it's been an honour being your friend.
  • NPCs will react if the protagonist gets on a broomstick in front of them. Older traveling wizard and witches reminisce about old times or complimenting them for having style. Fellow students will instead wish them a pleasant flight or try to say hi to them as they fly past.
    Hufflepuff Student: Safe flying.
  • One scene near the Quidditch field shows a girl accidentally transfiguring a goblet into a Bludger, which proceeds to wreak havoc. Madame Kogawa intercepts the Bludger and punishes the student for endangering others. She then compliments the girl for her dedication to Quidditch.
Kogawa: Awesome dedication to the sport, though!
  • On a hill in the Fellcroft region you will find a tomb and next to it a letter with these words written; "Here lies winky. Servant. Friend. Family. The goodiest elf that ever was" now remember that most wizards don't treat their elfs practiclary well but this one had a tomb and was so loved that the people he served considered him family.

Story

Main Story
  • Upon meeting Nora Treadwill, the moment she realizes that the Ashwinders are after a young student, she steps in front of the protagonist to protect them, despite her own fear. If the fight with the Ashwinders takes long enough you actually hear her roar the words, "You'll take this student over my dead body!" basically going Mama Bear for someone she doesn't even know.
  • Even though he and the protagonist had just met not too long ago, Sebastian goes out of his way to make sure that the protagonist is able to sneak into the Restricted Section of the library for their quest, even teaching them a new spell. Not only that, he takes one for the team and takes the sole blame after he is caught, even though Scribner tries to get him to fess up the other student.
  • During the first flying lesson from Madame Kogawa, the player character is persuaded by Everett Clopton into taking an unsanctioned flight around the school. After being reprimanded by Madame Kogawa for this behavior, the player character seems to be downtrodden. Madame Kogawa then proceeds to compliment them for their excellent flying skills, giving them a subtle smile.
Kogawa Chin up! That was some rather good flying.
  • The Adorkable Amit is so terribly excited to meet a Goblin and try out his self-taught Gobblededook with Lodgok. Unfortunately, his pronunciation is rather off and Lodgok is less than impressed, but it's heartwarming to see Amit so excited to meet a goblin in a climate where tensions between goblin and wizardkind are strenuous. Unlike the other companions, Amit decides to tag along with the protagonist as a favor and has no personal stakes in the mission. He is absolutely terrified of the chaos he's suddenly dragged into, but sticks with the protagonist all the way until the end despite his own fear. The protagonist is obviously grateful for his help and frequently tells him that they won't let anything bad happen to him.
  • Despite being a mostly humorous sequence, there is a few heartwarming moments in the Polyjuice escapade as Professor Black:
    • If you have done Cressida Blume's quest (where you help her get her flying books back in the library and not blackmail her) before attempting this main story beat, when the protagonist takes a jab at themselves (as Black) by calling themselves invisible, Cressida speaks up to defend the protagonist and their kindness. It's clear that the protagonist is caught off guard by it and abruptly leaves as not to drop character.
    • If you are a Slytherin and have done Scrope's quest, the quest gets a little heartwarming towards the end. Pretending as Professor Black, the Slytherin protagonist gives him Apollonia's journal, claiming that 'he' had confiscated it from a student and now it is his treasure to keep.
  • In the final battle against Ranrok, the protagonist declares they're fighting for Lodgok and Professor Fig (who might already be dead at this point depending on the ending).
    • In Secret-Keeper ending, it turns out that Professor Fig managed to survive his fall and helps support the protagonist as they try to contain the volatile ancient magic. When it's clear that they are struggling to do so, he speaks these words, allowing the protagonist to power through and contain it all. Professor Fig peacefully passes away with his wife's wand in his hands and his beloved student by his side holding his, knowing that the world is in capable hands. The most heartbreaking of all is that he tells the protagonist that his wife would have loved them, cementing that he had always seen the protagonist like his own child.
Professor Fig: You are stronger than you know.
    • To a lesser degree than the one above, the protagonist thanks Miriam for everything after all is said and done in the Earn Your Bad Ending.
  • Whilst Professor Black's initial toast to Professor Fig is quite mangled, he still seems quite sincere (for him at least), and when Professor Weasley takes over with a much more heartfelt speech, he can still be seen nodding somberly and approvingly.
  • During the very last quest "The House Cup", the main character will enter the Great Hall for the end of term banquet (late, again) just as Headmaster Black is about to award the House Cup. Professor Weasley will step up to the podium and award the protagonist's house 100 points for their job in defending Hogwarts during the attack. With this, Headmaster Black awards the House Cup to their house, after which all the characters of their house will surround the main character and hug and cheer him. Roll Credits. No matter what House you are in, Ominis will still cheer for you, per the subtitles. Interestingly, the only one of your friends to do so.

Companions

  • After all the strife and effort, the protagonist and Poppy finally manage to find the snidgets and they are absolutely adorable. Poppy is absolute ecstatic and relieved, feeling like she finally managed to make up for the horrors done to the beasts she's seen in her childhood.
  • The fact that whether or not you turn Sebastian in or not, he will tell the protagonist that he was glad to have met them.
  • When the protagonist rescues Isko Rabe and Natty from the Ashwinder hideout, the first thing Isko tries to do is to have the students grab onto him so he can apparate them out of there, and this is despite his injuries. He is reluctant to leave them when the protagonist and Natty insist they can find their own way out of there, clearly worried for the safety of two kids.
  • Natsai finally coming to terms with her father's death, seeing herself in the protagonist when they try to take fault when Natsai took a Crucio for them. She realizes that her father had made a choice and had acted on instinct, she was never to blame.
  • At the end of the game, if Sebastian is still around, he pulls the protagonist aside to thank them for all their kindness and support despite the shenanigans he dragged them in. He's clearly remorseful for everything he's done and the trouble he's caused, especially for the protagonist, but even if Anne doesn't forgive him, the protagonist already has.
Protagonist: Well, it wasn't easy. But I believe in you, Sebastian. I've had that sense about you since the first that first day in Defence Agaisnt the Dark Arts.
Sebastian: Seems so long ago. Thank you. I have no idea what's to come, but I'm grateful for your friendship. I'm glad you came to Hogwarts.
  • Poppy's friendship with the protagonist gave her the boost she needed to open herself up more to other people and finally start making more friends. It's notable enough that Professor Weasley comments on her progress and is happy to see that she is finally branching out.

Sidequests

  • Any quest givers you have done quests for and have helped out without expecting a reward will react extremely positively anytime the protagonist comes within walking distance, thanking them for their kindness and speaking praises.
  • The reason why Cressida Blume got in trouble with the librarian was because Amit was so impressed with her accidental book flying charm that he was bragging on her behalf to everyone.
  • Arn is so moved by the protagonist freeing his cart from Ranrok's Loyalists (and saving his entire livelihood), he decides to create a painting to commemorate the friendship between goblins and wizardkind, showing that diplomatic means between these two races is definitely possible. Arn is also always happy to see the protagonist should they stop by to shop.
  • Doing the Broom trials causes Imelda to become friendlier with each successful trial. The only reason she was hard on the protagonist is that she was partly jealous and didn't have patience for anyone who who didn't take the trials seriously (her previous flying buddy having decided to pursue other interests). By the end of the series of missions, Imelda has opened up to the protagonist and hopes to see them sometime, even asking them to sign up for Quidditch should it start up again.
  • Professor Ronen being extremely proud of the protagonist when they beat him in Summoner's Court. Bonus points if the protagonist tells Ronen the reason they won in the first place was because they had a good teacher (him). For a teacher like Ronen, who puts so much value in the fun of learning, this must mean the world to him to hear.
  • The protagonist going out of their way to check on Adelaide's uncle, Rowland, after he fails to reply to any of her owls. They manage to find him, captured by Ranrok's Loyalists, and the moment he realizes that his savior is a Hogwarts student he immediately insists that he apparate them out of there, but the protagonist insists that they're alright. After the quest is complete, when walking past Adelaide, she will tell the protagonist that her uncle often asks about them and how they're doing.
  • The reason why Rowland got captured in the first place is because he realized what a mistake it was to work with Ranrok's loyalists and began turning them away from business. Rowland himself does much of his business with goblins to begin with, even knowing their language.

Gameplay

  • The fact that you can pet the cats!
  • In an odd Pet the Dog moment, you can go out of your way to save Ashwinders that have been captured by spiders by casting fire magic on their wriggling form. They'll apparate away as soon as it safe and they don't offer you any thanks or reward in return, but it's sort of nice to save them when most of the time you'd be killing them.
  • In quests where Sebastian is your number two, he will often react positively anytime the protagonist uses any spells that he taught them (notably Confringo and Crucio) and compliments you if you decide to veer off the main path to look for chests, praising you when you find them.
Sebastian: Is it luck or skill allowing you to find these chests?
