Heartwarming / Halloween Kills

  • The fact that Tommy and Lonnie have become very close friends over the years, having bonded over their respective encounters with Michael Myers. This is especially heartwarming considering how much of a bully Lonnie was to Tommy in the original 1978 movie.
    • Lonnie is shown to be a loving and caring father to Cameron, and he also comforts Allyson as she deals with the aftermath of her father's death in the previous movie. This is a far cry from the bully he was as a kid.
  • Despite his character flaws in the previous movie, Cameron shows that he is a good person deep down. He finds the critically-injured Officer Hawkins and does his best to treat his wound while telling him he'll be ok as he calls for help. He then accompanies Hawkins to the hospital, where he sincerely apologizes to Allyson for his treatment of her earlier.
  • After the escaped mental patient is falsely presumed to be Michael Myers, Karen manages to get ahead of the angry mob chasing him down, having realized that the man is innocent. She immediately reassures the terrified patient that she's not going to hurt him, holds his hand, and tries to get him to safety, vowing that she will not let the crowd get to him. It's unfortunately not enough as the crowd catches up and the mental patient jumps to his death.
  • There's a small outpour of community support at the bar for everyone who has survived an encounter with Michael Myers.
  • Tommy, upon hearing that Michael is back, promises Laurie that he’ll protect her just like she protected him all those years ago.
  • A subtler, darker one, but Laurie's relationship with her family is visibly better now that they know she was Properly Paranoid and just trying to protect them.
  • During Laurie and Hawkins' scenes in the hospital, it's clear that they care a lot for each other. Laurie is nicer to Hawkins than she is to almost anyone else.
  • Hawkins' motivation for stopping Dr. Loomis from executing Michael back in 1978: after losing his partner, and after all the carnage Michael had already wrought, Hawkins just couldn't bring himself to see someone else die. Much as he regrets it now, Hawkins is clearly a good, compassionate man.
    • Despite the depths of her fear and hatred for Michael, Laurie doesn't hold what Hawkins did against him, recognizing that he meant well and that it's not his fault that Michael didn't deserve such mercy.
  • Due to the Extended Cut, we see Karen asking about her husband's body at the morgue, showing she was concerned about burying him.
  • Big John and Little John's reaction when they think that one of the trick or treaters is hurt is not unlike that of a parent’s reaction. They both immediately run to help the child. Even when it turns out to be a prank they don’t even get that mad. While Big John comes across as a somewhat morbid eccentric, it’s clear that at at their core they’re both decent guys. Sadly it doesn’t end well for them
