Heartwarming / Fuga: Melodies of Steel

Go To

"Where so many well-intentioned efforts to tackle themes of war in a serious manner overplay bleakness and misery to the extent of dulling the point they’re trying to make, Fuga is a game that always has humanity and the light of hope at its core."
Matt Ryan of Shindig.nz

Fuga is without a doubt the darkest entry in the Little Tail Bronx series to date, but that doesn't mean there aren't still moments that will give you the warm fuzzies.

This is a Moments page, so all spoilers are unmarked per wiki policy. You Have Been Warned.

  • That the whole playable cast is composed of anthropomorphic Precious Puppies and Cute Kittens is already fuel for many a Squee while playing the game. Especially watching them all grow into True Companions even as the tone of the game grows more and more grim. If you manage to get the Golden Ending where none of the kids die, their bond is shown to have become so strong over the course of the game that it can even power the Soul Cannon!
  • Britz's entire role in the story is one big Heartwarming Moment, especially if the player chooses to use him and have the other children interact with him.
    • Britz's very first action that's told of in the game is risking his life and the safety of his family to rescue Sheena, and even given the circumstances of his joining the group, he's overjoyed to see her safe and sound and she likewise is relieved that he survived after they were separated.
    • He starts off heavily conflicted about his place among the kids and his past actions as a Berman soldier, and feels undeserving of their kindness despite their common goal. But the payoff in watching him open up to them and likewise be accepted by them - even by Jin - makes it worth it.
    • Most of all, if you fulfill the conditions to have him survive his fight with the Taranis, not only will he fully become True Companions with the other children and help them save the day, but in the end he finally gets to be reunited with his family and is hailed as a hero. Even after all the destruction you had to wreak on the Berman forces and the sheer number of them you had to go through, you also managed to save some Berman folks from the horrors of war, too.
  • When someone told the game's lead artist about how nervous they were about using the Soul Cannon, they responded by saying that to use it is "a sacred decision for you and your children" as opposed to something the player should be ashamed of. The game itself echoes this sentiment, since if you complete it without getting the Golden Ending, it will still thank you for saving the world and making the hard decisions. It's a great alternative to chewing out or shaming players for using the Soul Cannon.
  • The Christmas 2022 art by Comedies of Steel artist Higashi, with a Malt dressed as Santa Claus (and his reindeer, Wappa and Boron) delivering presents to a sleeping Mei. Say it with us: Awwwww!
