    Loud Ancestor's final fate
  • What was the final fate of the Louds' ancestors? All of the family's spirits don't seem to be much older than they were in Lucille's flashback sequence, so Fridge Horror may assume that they all died at sea... until Fridge Logic begs to differ and can't help but wonder how the current Louds exist...
    • Some believe that either the Duke or his father could have had one other child after a fling with a girl. Others believe that the Duke's father may have had some random brother who continued the Loud family name. Still others believe that the Louds did live full lives after all but chose to appear as depicted in their family portrait when they became ghosts. Who knows?
    • WordofGod confirmed that they did not die as children, and only chose to appear as such because that's how they appeared in the painting.
      • Additionally, Word of God also clarifies that they ended up settling in what would become the state of Michigan in a town called Woods; which would eventually be renamed Royal Woods.
  • On a similar note, which side of Lynn Sr.'s family are they from? His Grandfather's or Great Grandma Harriet's? It's gotta be one of them since they look so similar to them.
    • Their last name is Loud, so they would have to be from his patrilineal line.
      • Not necessarily. Husband's can takes their wife's names rather than it strictly being the other way around. Either way, the Loud name would be continued, and it does make a tad bit more sense for it to be Harriet due to her striking similarity to Lucy.

    Sunglasses in the 1600's
  • How is it that Leni's 1600s counterpart has sunglasses?
    • It wouldn't be out of reach to assume she invented them.
      • Sunglasses have been around since at least the 12th Century.

    Lincoln becoming the duke
  • Even if the title of Duke can only be given to a male heir (which isn't the case, or else Morag wouldn't have been able to become Duchess), shouldn't Lynn Sr. have been the first in line to inherit the title on ground of being both a Male Loud and an adult while Lincoln is still a kid?
    • Not to mention that the show shows that Lynn Sr.’s father is still alive, which would mean that he would inherit the title, with Lynn Sr. only inheriting it upon his father’s death and Lincoln only inheriting it upon Lynn Sr.‘s death. Plus since noble titles in the U.K. are hereditary, they wouldn't be passed onto unrelated individuals like Morag and Angus.
      • The intention might be that the crown of Loch Loud goes to whoever is most capable of not just being a ruler, but a The Good King at that. While Lincoln does have his selfish moments, he is, at the end of the day, ultimately a good kid with fair head on his shoulders and aptitude for rule. He knows how and when to take charge, has dang good charisma for a kid his age, can plan and orchestrate large scale operations, and keen awareness of when to cut loose (be fair) and when to reign things in (put his foot down). Lynn Sr. and his father clearly do not share these traits, and would more than likely be subpar rulers at best. As Angus said, to be Duke one has to make life better for Loch Loud and work for its people, not one's self. Something Lincoln took to like a fish to water after just a few words from Angus, and something the girls would definitely not excel at nor be as proficient as Lincoln is; much like him with their obvious and overt talents. Plus, Morag claimed her ascension to the throne was a royal decree, something no one but Angus would be able to prove due to the Louds leaving. And let's not forget that according to Lucille, dragons are The Chooser of the One and guardians of Loch Loud, so it's not farfetched to assume that The Duke was made so after being found worthy of being so. Lela returning the crown to Lincoln also gives credence to this, implying that he is still worthy of being the Duke.
      • Plus, Morag (despite lying) and Angus actually being made Duchess/Duke of Loch Loud despite not being related would actually be possible due to the existence of Regents, which are in acting rulers placed into authority for either the absence, minority, or demise of the actual ruler(s). Thus making Angus acquisition of the crown a moment of Fridge Brilliance.
      • Being Regent wouldn't make them duke/duchess though. Regents are officials acting on behalf of the noble in question, they aren't officially known as duke/duchess. So at the end of the movie either Lincoln found a way to pass the duke status Angus through some legal process (most likely an Act of Parliament), or Angus technically didn't become the Duke of Loch Loud and Lincoln only calls him that since Lincoln was no longer interested in the role and for all intents and purposes Angus would be the duke despite technically only being Regent (unless Lincoln decides to take an active role again).
    • That being said, in real life Scottish dukes weren’t rulers of cities, they were noblemen who had wealth and influence, but weren’t administrators of settlements and in the 21st century, have no actually powers or duties beyond having a prestigious ancestry. The succession to the titles is set out in the letters originally created the title by the then monarch, and can only be changed through a decree by the monarch, which is mostly just a rubber stamp on the enactment by Parliament, which is unlikely to act on hereditary titles’ succession rights die to more relevant and pressing issues in the government taking their attention. So this might be a case of Artistic License – Law.

    Braces in the 1600's
  • How come Luan's 1600's counterpart has braces in the flashback? She certainly didn't have them in the painting.
    • That was probably before she got them, depending on which painting you're talking about. But it's not a stretch to say that Lisa's lookalike ancestor invented them.
      • Like sunglasses, braces are older than you think. Braces have been found in skulls from the 4th Century BC.

    Where are the Pets?
  • When the Louds thought they were gonna live in Scotland, what happened to their pets?
    • They probably didn't arrange for their transport yet. Transporting animals internationally is a bit of a hassle. They probably were planning to make the arrangements to pick them up, but didn't follow through since they eventually decided to move back to the United States.

    Rita's 1600s double
  • If Rita is only a Loud by marriage, why does her 1600s counterpart look completely identical to her?
