Headscratchers / Shark Tale

Go To

  • Literally nobody saw Oscar “kill” Frankie, so why would anyone actually believe this without any evidence? You’d expect someone to get suspicious.
    • On the other side of the spectrum, why did Lenny believe there was a Sharkslayer? He straight out saw the anchor hit Frankie, so he should know that's not the case.
      • He only heard of a Sharkslayer, and initially didn't believe it's supposed to be Oscar. Only when Oscar claims unironically he's the Sharkslayer, he puts everything together.
    • People are very prone to getting caught up in what they've been told as a group. That, and Sykes' goons also seem pretty gullible so they'd vouch for him too. As far as Lenny goes, since he's so sweet, it's not too much of a stretch to believe that he'd be a little naive too.
  • Did Lola ever find out about Oscar's lie? News seems to pass by quickly in the reef. Even if she did find out about Oscar's lie, she's still humiliated by being stuck with Crazy Joe. Will she still cause Oscar trouble? What's to stop her from doing that? Could someone please answer me that?
    • Hey, everything's cool with Don Lino, and Lino likes Oscar. Lola needs a lot more power than she's got as your standard gold-digger. That's not to say she couldn't... but she'd need to start over.
    • She probably did, because in a scene during the credits, she's shown to imply to feel awful for her actions.
    • Uh, this is Lola we're talking about. She didn't actually feel remorseful, she was just trying to get on Oscar's good side because she wants to use him.
  • Why exactly are the sharks palling around with orcas? Orcas are famous for eviscerating sharks with little to no effort, to the point that a single attack from an orca has been known to scare entire great white shark populations out of their own hunting grounds.
    • Didn’t you just answer your own question? Orcas are one of the few things that can possibly stand against sharks, so they made a preemptive alliance with them to secure their power before say, whatever the fish police is decides to.
  • On that note, why are the fish of the reef comfortable with dolphins and porpoises but not sharks. Both eat fish.
    • Same reason most people are ok with mall cops but not with armed serial killers, although both have guns and can shoot you. One is decidedly more violent and dangerous than the other.
  • How did Oscar become co-owner of the Whale Wash at the end of the film? There doesn't seem much reason for it — he'd just admitted to his whole sharkslayer persona was a con, which logically would leave him with little money to spare. And why would Sykes allow him to become co-owner after being lied to and having his life endangered because of Oscar's con?
  • After watching Oscar get beaten up by Lola in plain view in front of 20-30 fish, with Sykes being one of them, why is no one suspicious of Oscar being the sharkslayer if Lola can easily beat him up with no problem?
    • It's easy to hit hard against a shark, but against a woman? Especially in front of a crowd, Oscar would never raise a fin against a female, and everyone knows it. They probably figured he was holding back and letting her hit him without actually feeling it too bad.
  • What the hell does Angie see in Oscar? He's a selfish idiot who gets in a lot of trouble thanks to his mistakes.
    • Love is a powerful thing, I guess. Personally, I wonder how Oscar explained to Angie why he ended up in the middle of nowhere without the pearl in order to be around the shark that got hit by the anchor out there. It's bound to come up as they get closer, considering they're implied to be dating at the end of the film.
