Aren't we missing a few people

  • At no point in the series do we ever meet Ben Franklin's wife, children or grandchildren, despite all but his wife being alive, present, and in some cases, active in the Revolution. The only members of his family we see are his father and one older brother (out of 16 siblings). In fact, it's never even mentioned that Franklin ever married or had children. Why is this?
    • Possibly to avoid talking about why he was flirting with French ladies while married? Possibly to avoid having too large a cast?
      • Deborah Franklin died before the events of the series. And having Temple as a recurring character or showing Sally and her kids once or twice wouldn't significantly impact the size of the cast.
    • I kind of figured that they weren't living in the same area as the revolution.
      • William Temple Franklin, Ben's grandson, was glued to Ben's side throughout the Revolution, and was even included in the portrait of the Treaty of Paris that ended the war.
    • To be a li'l fair, Ben Franklin himself isn't given that much focus throughout the show, so to explain where his family (or affair partners are) is that they're there but offscreen.
