Headscratchers / Hunter: The Parenting

  • Matilda and Amanda seemed to have been out of the loop of the whole "supernatural" world before the Ghoul Hunt, as neither of them new vampires existed. Before this they probably just thought they were cleaning for a group of weird, rich assholes at their secret club. Is there a reason the Arcanum doesn't seem to be worried about these two knowing now? Why would they hire outsiders here in the first place? Sorry, not familiar with World of Darkness lore.
    • The Arcanum fronts to the normal world as a scholarly, members-only club like an Elk Lodge or the Masons. The regular staff of a chapter house, and even initial Initiates, usually do not know about any supernatural phenomenon. It is likely Occam let the veil of secrecy fall for Matilda and Amanda in this case because keeping them in the dark might put them in even more danger, more than the fore-warned Arcanum members, and he can't just send them away in case one or both of them are Ghouled. As for why they would hire outsiders, well you can't expect a bunch of English/Belgian aristocrats to do the dishes and dust the paintings, now can you?
  • During the interview with the police, it's revealed they searched the house. They found the cellar where the licks were imprisoned but how did they not find Kevin, who was chained up down there?
    • Kevin was (is still?) kept in a separate place. When visiting him Big-D can be heard complaining about how deep these "catacombs" are, the rest of the family seems unaware of the other prisoner (whatever that may be) and in the "Big-D goes shopping" audiolog, D mentions his "seeeeecret pit". The police didn't find this place either because the entrance is more hidden than the house's basement or because it's nearby but outside the actual house.
    • Based on dialogue in "Big D's Guide to Avoiding Arrest", Kevin is being kept imprisoned inside some iron-age Iceni ruins, possibly the ruins of Warham Camp (which would place it within a reasonable distance of both Kitten's house in Warham and Chapman's constabulary in Wells-Next-To-The-Sea).
  • Hunter: The Parenting takes place in 2006 and Kitten and Marckus are engaged to be married. Same-sex marriage wasn't fully legalized in England until 2014. Does the World of Darkness have a different history timeline regarding LGBT rights, or are they just getting married on their own authority?
    • On their own authority seems likely. They're already Hunters who flagrantly disregard the law in service of their moral compass, what's it matter if the law says they can get married or not.
    • Big D is later shown to have once been married to Occam O'Connell, and has the unsigned divorce papers (with "Norfolk County" legible in the scribbles) to prove it, again despite the UK not legalizing it for another six/seven years.
