  • Desperately needing to avoid getting pulled over the night before his big virtual qualifying event, Jann speeds away from cops in a short chase sequence accompanied by visual elements from Gran Turismo as Jann channels Tetris Effect to hone his driving skills and focus, such as a race track map (of the neighborhood in this case), timing, and positioning, which is Narm Charm in itself. It's elevated further when, once escaping the cops and cheering, a "Congratulations" and "Cop Avoidance" banner appears on the screen with a trophy, as if he had just won a race or achievement in a video game, all presented with a camera angle from the rear of the car to give the perspective of a 3rd-person view in racing games.
  • The old, hardened former race car driver-turned team engineer Jack Salter is in charge of training a group of the best Gran Turismo players to become real racers. To his perspective, they're just out-of-shape, young video game players who've never left their bedroom, making his disbelief in them heavy, and thus putting through some aggressively strict coaching. This naturally leads to a pretty comedic Training Montage:
    • Whilst talking through a megaphone, as he does in some of these scenes, he heckles the Academy students jogging up a hill that the last time they stretched their legs was to get another Hot Pocket from the fridge.
    • Eating chips whilst observing the students repeatedly run up and down bleachers, and telling one of the lesser-performing ones that he's "ruining my enjoyment of these chips".
    • After spinning out and crashing, one student is shown throwing up on the grass after getting out of the car, to which Jack, after hesitating a few seconds in a possible tiniest remote sense of empathy for the guy, says "You threw up on my lawn" with a sarcastic air of being minorly inconvenienced.
    • After a student, in a trial of attempting to drive through cones, ends up hitting a bunch, Jack comes to happily "congratulate" him, saying that hitting the cones is extra points. This is also a possible lighthearted reference to the license tests and missions in Gran Turismo 4 and most games after where you are actually meant to hit them.
    • Danny tells Jack to get in a helicopter to get an aerial perspective of the students' driving performance. Jack, with his distaste for flying becoming apparent in a later scene, tells him that he absolutely will not get in the helicopter. He gets in the helicopter.
  • Jann listening to relaxing music such as Kenny G to sleep at night gets to his GT Academy classmates the night before the big race, playfully roasting him for it. Later, before a big race, after a bunch of intense scenes of anticipation, we cut to Jann listening to said music to meditate and mentally prepare, followed by a visibly weirded-out Jack walking in on him. This is such a practice that the real Jann does before his real-life races, too!
