Tear Jerker / Gran Turismo (2023)

• Jann's relationship with his father early on is largely focused on the former being reprimanded whenever he attempts a step in achieving his dream of racing, including skipping out on playing soccer with his father and brother.
• At Red Bull Ring, in his first race with Team Nissan against professional race car drivers, a member from CAPA, Jack's former racing team which he quit before working with GT Academy, spins out Jann in the final turn while competing for a top spot, causing him to finish near last, starting this hopeful journey to show the world this new medium for training race car drivers off on a demoralizing start.
• In his Nürburgring race, he suffers a terrible crash when his car catches air over the Flugplatz ("airfield" in German) straightaway, a fast uphill part of the track known for rarely getting cars lifted airborne and into an accident. The accident, in which the car tumbles and flips over a fence into a spectator area and horribly mangles the car, horrifies his parents watching on TV and Jack, as Jann is carried off on a stretcher to a hospital. It is revealed to Jann later that the accident ended up killing a spectator, the realization making him overcome with guilt and grief, contemplating never racing again, despite Jack and Danny truthfully assuring him that it wasn't his fault. This accident is based on the same that Jann was involved in at Nürburgring in 2015 where a spectator died. Jann, as producer of this film wanted to include the wreck and its resulting events be accurately depicted, as he felt it "would have been a disservice for the audience for that not to be in there".
  • After these traumatic happenings, Jack finally getting to open the gift Jann got him earlier, a new Walkman to replace his old one after Jann noticed its antique nature, reading the note on it that said "Now I get to teach YOU something!" after the accident that brought his driver protégé in the hospital leaves Jack overwhelmed with heavy mixed emotions.
• In a heartwarming sense, the genuine emotional moment Jann's dad and he share before the 24 Hours of Le Mans race, when the former shows up unexpectedly to apologize to his son and showing his newfound full support, especially with Jann pointing to his father's soccer team logo sticker on his helmet, saying he did all of this for him.
