Funny / Der Fuehrer's Face

Go To

The whole short is one, but these particular moments are some highlights.

  • The opening theme, with Hideki Tojo on a sousaphone, Benito Mussolini on the drum, and an extremely flamboyant Hermann Goering on the flute.
    • The Hypocritical Humor of Tojo calling himself an "Aryan pure-a superman" when he looks like a stereotypical Asian caricature, as far from the Aryan ideal as possible. However, this could possibly be a reference to the fact that Nazis considered the Japanese to be honorary Aryans.
  • Donald's Hitler cuckoo clock, which goes off at swastika-o'clock.
  • For breakfast, Donald has a wooden loaf of "bread" and aroma of bacon and eggs, and a single coffee bean he hoards inside a safe behind a picture of Hitler.
    • Becomes rather Harsher in Hindsight when you learn that except for aroma of bacon and eggs, those foods were real. Prisoners in Nazi concentration camps were give a loaves of bread with sawdust mixed in as a food. Coffee beans were considered luxury at the time, so it's not out of place for someone to save coffee like that. Germany at the time used roasted date seed as a coffee substitute, and couldn't even have enough of that by the late stages of war.
  • Donald being shanghaied out of his house and forced to march with the oompah band. He was also visibly unwilling to go to the factory, as after the cut, he's shown arriving with bayonets stuck in his ass.
  • The barely disguised "Hell Hitler!" Donald mutters.
  • Donald using the feathers on his vestigial tail as a hand to "Heil Hitler!"
  • Vacation consists of Donald forced to do calisthenics in front of a painted alpine backdrop, contorting his body in the shape of a swastika.
  • The Curse Cut Short of the title song:
"Ven der Fuehrer yells, "I GOTTA HAVE MORE SHELLS!"
Ve "Heil! Heil!" For him, ve make more shells.
If one leetle shell should blow him right tonote *CLANG!* (Donald bumps into a much bigger bomb)
Ve "Heil! Heil!" And vouldn't that be svell?"
