The video game:

  • The game only subverting Speaking Simlish on two occasions... to have Theo exclaim a clearly-audible "Yolooooooooo!"
  • This exchange from when Madeline first meets Badeline in Chapter 2:
Madeline: Why would Part of Me look so creepy?
Badeline: (Beat) This is just what I look like, okay?
  • Theo calls Badeline an "adorable goth" version of her.
  • The selfie Theo takes at the end of Chapter 4 is a textbook example of comedic timing: it captures the very instant the gondola stalls out, complete with the pair's terrified confusion. Even they get a laugh out of it on the results screen image.
  • Theo's comments during Chapter 5 has a few things like puns, remarks about fancy play, and even Meta remarks in 5-B.
  • As seen on the Heartwarming pages, the end of Chapter 7-B has this exchange.
    Badeline: That was amazing!
Madeline: I can't believe we did that!
Badeline: (distorted voice) NOTHING CAN STOP US!
Madeline: (deadpan) You're scaring me right now.
  • The Old Lady (also called Granny) owns a gamer chair for some reason.
  • Normally, the beginning of Chapter 9 has you head towards Granny, only for her to be revealed as an illusion, cutting to a rainy scene with her tombstone. If you use Debug Mode to teleport directly to Granny, not only will you find a room not close by that bears the words "DEBUG MODE" and quite a few interactive objects, Granny will also have this to say:
  • The tutorial for teaching the player wavedashing in Chapter 9 is a Windows 98 slideshow presentation filled to the brim with clip art, while an elevator music-styled rendition of the main theme plays.
And Part of You won't help (she's the worst)
    • The same tune plays when you encounter the Golden Room in Chapter 9, which is an exclusive final room that's only accessible with the golden berry that you'd have to beat before you can collect the berry and see the normal ending cutscene. The reward for beating said room? The same green flag used that resembles and plays the little jingle from the original PICO-8 version of the game.
  • The developers apparently thought of people who would dig every file of the game and left them a little secret in the SFX... Madeline Rickrolling you with her simlish sound effect.
  • Celeste 64 is mostly a homage to collectathon platfomers from the Nintendo 64, but then you enter one of the B-Side stages for the first time and see, of all things, a homage to the secret levels from Super Mario Sunshine, complete with an a-capella remix of the original game's main theme and all the props dancing to the beat. It's genuinely hilarious if you're not expecting it.
