• How did Julia and Glenn, two people with such opposite personalities and interests, get together in the first place? They may have met through her mother, who also seems to have shallow concerns about money and looks (though she probably had not realized how much of a jerk Glenn is.)
  • Could it also be an initial case of Opposites Attract or maybe All Girls Want Bad Boys?
    • We also can’t underestimate the power of The Casanova, Glenn is a womanizer with good looks who obviously has experience getting women to fall for him. As if that wasn’t enough, Julia is an idealist who Thinks Like a Romance Novel and always tries to see the best in people, so she would be a particularly easy target for Glenn, who gets the best of both worlds: a beautiful young woman who supports and loves him unconditionally, and will also always find a way to excuse or justify his mistreatment of and cheating on her, which leaves him free to pursue as many side conquests as he wants.
