Fridge Brilliance:

  • At the beginning of the final arc of Rachel Pollack's run, Dorothy Spinner attempts to exercise Power Perversion Potential by creating an attractive, shirtless boyfriend she dubs Mr. Right-And-Cool for her imaginary friend Pretty Miss Dot. This may come out of nowhere, but given that Dorothy's parents were established to be abusive and restrictive towards her and her current guardians George and Marion had no issue with discussing sexual matters in front of Dorothy (in addition to Marion assuring Dorothy that her menstrual cycle was a natural part of her life she shouldn't be ashamed of in contrast to Mrs. Spinner's response of telling her daughter that she should've been aborted after other children cruelly mocked her for having her first menstrual bleeding in front of them), it is likely that Dorothy was encouraged by having parental figures who treated her better than her previous guardians and didn't shame her for her bodily functions to explore her sexuality.
  • Morrison's run had Darren Jones insist he was "the most normal man in the world", and tried to live a 50s sitcom-esque life with his wife, but this meant he violently tried to impose a normal life through weird means, such as eating "skinless stew", hosting reunions for the fake Men from N.O.W.H.E.R.E and using something called "love worms". Despite Jones' claims, they're a very weird couple made of normal people. Pollack's run introduces the Bandage People, a married couple made of two Energy Beings enclosed in self-regenerating bandages who had a very traditional marriage reminiscent of a sitcom. They're a normal couple made of weird people!

Fridge Horror:

  • Dorothy Spinner's imaginary friends Damn All, Darling Come Home and Flying Robert are said to be representations of her abusive family. While Damn All and Darling Come Home are obvious stand-ins for her parents, the fact that there is no indication that Dorothy's parents raised any other children and Flying Robert describing himself as a "ghost-balloon baby thing" raises the possibility that Flying Robert represents a time where Mrs. Spinner was pregnant and abused Dorothy after miscarrying due to blaming Dorothy for her failure to carry the fetus to term.
  • The False Memory just walks away after the Doom Patrol force her to leave. Who knows what other people she ends up meddling with by brainwashing them into believing she was a part of their lives?
