Previews: Trailer

Trap includes examples of the following:

  • Affably Evil: Cooper is characterized in the trailer as being a mild-mannered, affable guy who loves his daughter dearly and who also happens to be a ruthless serial killer.
  • Dramatic Irony: Jamie tells Cooper not to tell anyone, but that the Feds are looking for a serial killer in the concert venue. The trailer reveals that Cooper himself is the serial killer.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Cooper may be a serial killer, but the trailer shows he has a good relationship with his daughter.
  • Lured into a Trap: Jamie at least tells Cooper that the Feds have lured the Serial Killer, the Butcher, to the concert venue.
  • Mr. Exposition: Jamie is this in the trailer, explaining why the building is surrounded by cops.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: The singer in the trailer, Lady Raven, has a name very similar to Lady Gaga and is shown to have a house and piano set up similar to that used by Taylor Swift in her Eras concerts.
  • Plot Twist: But of course. Interestingly, the trailer actually sets up a twist within a twist: the first one, of course, being that the entire concert is a trap to ensnare a serial killer on the loose, and the second twist being that Cooper is said serial killer.
  • Spotting the Thread: In the trailer, Cooper realizes something is going on after noticing that there's an unusual amount of cops at the concert venue and they all seem to be on very high alert.
  • Tomato in the Mirror: An unusually early one. Cooper is revealed in the trailer as the Serial Killer that the police are looking for.
  • Villain Protagonist: The trailer reveals that Cooper is the maniac the cops are searching for.
