The winter Short Film of Kamen Rider Saber.

The Book of Ruin is a dangerous artifact containing the vicious Swordsman of Immortality, Bahato. However, this swordsman has escaped from his prison and unleashed the Book of Ruin on Wonder World to destroy both it and the real world. Now, Touma Kamiyama/Kamen Rider Saber and his allies must stand up to the formidable Phoenix Swordsman if they are to save both worlds and stop Bahato before he successfully brings destruction to all.

Tropes

  • Antagonist Title: Bahato is the titular Phoenix Swordsman, though his proper title is the Immortal Swordsman.
  • Big Bad: Bahato/Kamen Rider Falchion is the main villain who all the heroic Riders come together to fight.
  • Double Feature: Makes up the Kamen Rider Splendid Double-Featurenote  with Kamen Rider Zero-One: REAL×TIME.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Like previous winter films, this one features elements that will be introduced on television in the new year, namely Master Logos and the Sword of Logos' Southern Base.
  • Interquel: The film takes place sometime after episode 10 due to the appearance of Espada Golden Alangina, but before episode 11 due to the absence of Calibur Jaou Dragon and Rintaro's injuries.
  • The Movie: For Kamen Rider Saber.
  • No Plot? No Problem!: Most of the entire film is the battle with Bahato, which begins immediately. A boy is repeatedly cut away to, but only so he and Mei (and later most of the city) can watch as things unfold.
  • Short Film: In a rarity for Kamen Rider, this film's runtime is roughly that of a television episode similar to most Super Sentai summer films.
    • Tropes Are Tools: As with Zero One this was a double feature which was supposed to premiere alongside a Super Sentai movie, and Phoenix Swordsman was probably created to specifically fill that hole.
  • Sliding Scale of Idealism Versus Cynicism: The movie is essentially this trope playing itself out in real time, with Touma and Bahato occupying each of the respective ends.
  • The Stinger: With Falchion having been defeated by Saber, Master Logos claims the Book of Ruin containing Bahato.
  • We Will Meet Again: Bahato says as much to Touma after his defeat at the hands of Emotional Dragon. His warning comes to pass thanks to Master Logos taking his book for use later down the line.

"Ruin will come to all! It won't be long until we meet again...!"
