This film provides examples of:

  • Actor Allusion: Lily's boyfriend Fabian is a reality TV star, not unlike his actor Ollie Locke, who is best known for being one of the main stars of the E4 reality TV series Made in Chelsea.
  • The Cameo: A lot of famous celebs appear in the film, with most either being guests at McCreadie's birthday or sending a birthday message to him such as Stephen Fry, Caroline Flack (in one of her last filmed appearances prior to her suicide in February 2020), Pixie Lott, Ben Stiller, Colin Firth, Keira Knightley, Chris Martin, Louis Walsh, James Blunt and Keith Richards.
  • Corrupt Corporate Executive: McCreadie, thanks to his wealth being based on ruthless exploitation and financial corruption, including a reliance on sweatshops in Southeast Asia for his fashion lines, tax avoidance, asset stripping and similar ethically questionable financial dealings.
  • Karmic Death: McCreadie gets mauled to death by a drugged lion from the mock amphitheatre, released by Amanda as payback for his indirect role in her mother's death.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: McCreadie was loosely based on Arcadia Group chairman Philip Green.
