Proof that the remaining 10% is worth becoming a Death Scythe for here:

These are recommendations made by Tropers for Fan Fics, all of which have been signed. After a few samples, you will be able to judge whether you might be interested in the 'fic, based on who recommended it. No-name recommendations will be zapped. Nobody would back up the rec. Discussion of the recommendation is welcome on the discussion page. As such discussion is important, do remember to add the discussion page to the watchlist, if need be.

Do warn when a fanfic may head into non-canon territory. Some people just don't like it, and as we all know, Shipping is Serious Business.

Authors, and Websites
Lialane-Graest

Stories focused on the family and the friendly relationships of the cast. Plot-focused stories or light day-in-the-life stories. Pretty much anything that isn't focused on romance.

  • Recommended by Interrobang
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Random Day in the Life snippets from the main cast of Soul Eater.
  • Comments: Normally I don't go for these kinds of fics, but each sentence is just wonderfully in-character and nicely self-contained.

The Only Answer by WallofIllusion

  • Recommended by Dellanotte and Prince Kaen.
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis: Medusa raises her child. 3300 words of solid child abuse, you have been warned. Spoilers up to and including chapter 87 of the manga.
  • Comments: The second-worst part is that it's absolutely in-character. The absolute worst part is that it's completely canon-compliant. This is how you raise a child to be broken, and gloat about it. Thus, weep.

Unanswered Questions: The Tale of Soul Eater by sequoiacole

  • Recommended by The Squall Ace
  • Status: Dormant
  • Synopsis: I've decided that I want to explore the origins of Soul Eater. During the anime I had many questions about him and was surprised to find that even though his name is the title of the show, we learn very little about him therefore, fanfic! Don't be upset that his name is Ethan Evans to begin with. His true name will emerge later on. Please enjoy! Also to be safe I DON'T OWN ANYTHING (taken from the fanfiction.net synopsis)
  • Comments: Brilliantly written, packs an emotional punch, and has a great story. It tells the story of Soul in a very believable and intriguing way. I love this story, and am here to spread the word.

Nine to Life by Apoc 326

  • Pairings: Soul/Maka, Black Star/Tsubaki, Kid/Liz
  • Synopsis: A good story about Soul, Maka, and their soon-to-be-daughter. Humorous with a touch of seriousness, it is not a cheezy love story.

Resonance of Madness by Lialane-Graest

  • Recommended by Dellanotte
  • Status: Dormant
  • Pairing: Stein/Marie
  • Synopsis: "They were resonating when the madness took him. She refused to let go of him, and he clung to her like a drowning man to a life preserver. Well, even life preservers can sink into the churning abyss..."
  • Comments: A beautifully-executed work that alternatively induces horror, laughter, and a volley or two of profanity. Lialane writes madness effortlessly, cheerfully exploring the far reaches of depravity whilst keeping everyone in-character, fighting, and living with enough laughter for a chance at a happy ending. Of course, if you laugh at the end of chapter 11, you have no soul.

Coin Operated Boy by DollyPop12

  • Recommended by frenchcookie47
  • Status: Complete
  • Pairing: Stein/Marie
  • Synopsis: "Marie Mjolnir is an engineer working for Baba Yaga Enterprises, a group currently holding the monopoly on their patented cyborg systems, created from years of now-illegal human experimentation. But she would rather work her second job as a Vulture picking spare parts out of landfills for her resistance group. When Marie finds an abandoned cyborg, lacking both serial and model numbers, she takes him in and finds out that has had his emotional receptors traumatically compromised. And that he could prove the catalyst for dismantling Baba Yaga once and for all. But as she begins to fall, both for the cyborg codenamed Franken Stein, as well as down the rabbit hole of his past, she realizes that, in love with a man who has to learn his feelings all over again, going after the person who hurt him in the first place is biting off more than she could ever hope to chew."
  • Comments: An alternate universe fic coming from the 2015 Resbangs, Coin Operated Boy speaks for itself in sheer beauty of language and a well executed dystopia with a subtle brush of romance. Plot heavy, heady. It's a beautiful work.

Crossover Fics
Stories in which two realities coexist and interact with one another.

The Hetalian Job by Rainy Meadows

  • Status: Complete
  • Crossover with Hetalia: Axis Powers
  • Characters(s): N. Italy, Germany, Death the Kid, Liz Thompson, Patty Thompson, various other characters from either franchise make minor appearances.
  • Synopsis: It was supposed to be a simple mission: go in, slay the prospective kishin, come straight back out. But when Death the Kid encounters an asymmetrical pasta-loving coward, his life becomes anything but simple. Rated T for violence, swearing and dark themes, but not enough to constitute an M. First in the Soul Heta series.

The Legendary Holy Sword by Oh I wish I were a bird

  • Recommended by Evilkitten 3
  • Status: Complete
  • Crossover with Fullmetal Alchemist
  • Character(s): Envy, Riza Hawkeye, Edward Elric, Roy Mustang, Excalibur.
  • Synopsis: Excalibur meets Ed, Envy, Roy and Riza. Poor Envy... Rated T for a brief mention of Playboy. Crackfic of absolute nonsense. FMA chapters 94-95/episodes 53-54 spoilers.
  • Comments: Possibly the most hilarious, nonsensical thing in the world. Takes place during Envy's temper tantrum right before it kills itself.

Secrets of Legend by ADdude

  • Recommended by Wisest 1
  • Status: Complete
  • Crossover with Is This A Zombie? & Doctor Who
  • Character(s): Maka Albarn, Soul Eater, Eucliwood Hellscythe, Ayumu Aikawa, Maka's Mom, Naegleria Nebiros, The 11th Doctor, Tardis, Clara Oswald, Excalibur, Death The Kid, Liz Thomspon
  • Synopsis: Doctor who/Soul Eater/Is This A Zombie crossover. You don't need to know all three to follow the story. Cracks begin to form at the walls between dimensions. A secret held by three people is about to exposed that threatens all. Meisters from the DWMA, Zombie, Necromancer, Vampire, Magic Girl, Timelord & companion gather to stop it. As the walls between worlds fall chaos follows.
  • Comments: The story is well paced and well balanced giving all the various worlds and character their own time to shine. It's a fun and exciting story with humor and touching and emotional moments. Some subtle hints of romance and not so subtle hints of romance. The story does well to connect the worlds without feeling forced and makes the characters feel like their connections are natural and fit with the established canon. It also puts some characters like Excalibur in new light. It actually makes you feel sympathy with either an annoying character or just a pure comic relief character. The bad guy is powerful enough to be a real danger to the various powerful good guys.

An Unorthodox Alliance by SleepDeprivedFemale

  • Recommended by FurorNocturna
  • Status: Dormant; last updated November 2018
  • Crossover with Supernatural
  • Synopsis: Lucifer summoned and bound the Grim Reaper to his will. Unfortunately for him, this resulted in Death's son ending up with the Winchesters, in an alliance that is shaky at best and homicidal at worst.
  • Notes: Slightly AU. Follows the SE manga except for the final battle; basically the Kishin was sealed but Kid didn't complete his lines so dear old Lord Death is still alive; as for the Supernatural timeline, set during season 5, after 'Abandon All Hope'
  • Comments": A phenomenal setup with even greater execution. Bar-none the greatest Soul Eater crossover this reader has ever had the pleasure of reading. Updates are slow but always worth the wait.
