Authors, and Websites
Celrock
  • Recommended by Unicorndance
  • Author of: Rugrats and the Gray Plague, Prerugrats
  • Comments: A good writer— sometimes, she misspells a character's name but apart from that her writing is very good. Mainly writes stories about the Rugrats set between the show and All Grown Up! so her writing is good if you're curious about what happened during that gap in the timeline. She also writes good AU versions of episodes. Do be warned, however, that she occasionally writes about illness, so you might want to keep that in mind if that kind of thing squicks you. Other than that, one of the best writers in the fandom.
    • Comments: A warning to readers, however: celrock's stories tend to heap angst almost always on Tommy. If he isn't getting sick, injured, maimed, or even killed then he is always treated as the bad guy whenever he has an issue and is the one forced to apologize. Every other character can do no wrong. Espeically Dil who seems to be a Creator's Pet for celrock, who is allowed to at times hit, strike, and hurt Tommy and is always treated as an innocent who does no wrong. This results in her fics can come off as Tommy Bashing while Dil becames a bloody powerhouse.
      • This troper also found Celrock introduces odd or immersion-breaking plot elements, such as adults who magically understand babies and can bring Disney characters into reality or has time machines that aren't imagination spots but really happen.

The Unofficial Rugrats Online

Stories focused on the family and the friendly relationships of the cast. Plot-focused stories or light day-in-the-life stories. Pretty much anything that isn't focused on romance.

Beautiful Monster by GangGreenGhost

  • Recommended by fruitstripegum, Princess Togezo
  • Status: Complete
  • Summary: My take on The Rugrats Theory where Angelica is schizophrenic.
  • Comments: I actually like this one better than the original Rugrats Theory story. The original story just felt like a pile of Deus Angst Machina, but this one goes into all sorts of detail and makes the whole thing seem logical, and I could actually feel for the different characters in the story. (Plus, this story actually allows Kimi and Kira to be normal, unlike the original.)

The Red Riding Chuck by acosta perez jose ramiro

  • Recommended by fruitstripegum
  • Status: Complete
  • Summary: A classic fairy tale, Rugrats' style.
  • Comments: Admittedly, the writing and grammar aren't the greatest, but that's because the author's first language is Spanish. Other than that, this is a pretty good story, and there's a tiny hint of Ship Tease at the end.

Angie's Wonderful Life by Acosta perez jose ramiro

  • Recommended by Tinytooncrazy 86,fruitstripegum
  • Status: Complete
  • Summary - Angelica is mean to the babies once too often, one of them gets injured. After being punished, Angelica wishes she was never born, and a guardian angel shows what the world would be like without her.
  • Comments - A It's a Wonderful Plot fic, where Angelica learns just how important she is to the babies, and how events would have happened without her. Warning - it's implied there are some graphic scenes and a death (which I won't spoil). It also hints towards a Ship Tease. This is another good fic by Jose who knows the Rugrats pretty well, and uses Angelica as an assistant.

A Christmas Present by Acosta perez jose ramiro

  • Recommended by Tinytoons 86
  • Status: Complete
  • Summary - After Chaz reads an article in Monthly child Magazine, he grows worried about his kids in their teen years, so he recently lets Angelica help him pick out some gifts for them.
  • Comments -A very funny fic with a very good punchline and some ship teasing.

A Mother's Love by Mr. Chaos

  • Recommended by fruitstripegum
  • Status: Complete
  • Summary: Takes place days after the movie. Despite Dil and Tommy coming to terms in the forest Didi and Stu still focus on the new baby, leaving Tommy feeling abandoned. But all it takes is one night to help Didi realize what she has done and how she and Stu have neglected Tommy. The question is can she earn back the precious gift that is her child's love?

Charlotte's Greatest Asset by Flagg 1991

  • Recommended by fruitstripegum
  • Status: Complete
  • Summary: AU of the episode Mommy's Little Asset. After Jonathan botches babysitting Tommy and Angelica and costs the company an important deal, Charlotte fires him. She doesn't need him around anyway. She can do what he does and BETTER. Or can she?

The Rugrats' Crazy Fairy Tale by Carolina Hernandez T.

  • Recommended by Unicorndance
  • Status: Complete
  • Summary: N/A
  • Comments: The Rugrats parody many fairy tales and put themselves into the story. It's basically one big story, that they act out, which is a cross between eight different stories. And it works.

Prerugrats by celrock

  • Recommended by Unicorndance
  • Status: Complete
  • Summary: The story of the Rugrats lives prior to the first episode of Rugrats, Tommy's First Birthday. This story features everything, from the birth of each original rugrat, to infantile development, and much more! Plus a bonus section at the end, called Brotherly Preparedness, that takes place between the Family Tree episode in Season 5, and The Rugrats Movie!
  • Comments: A great story if you want an explanation of what each character's backstory was like, and also reassuring to those who don't like the Rugrats Theory, because in this story it was all a hoax. It's a little dark at times and the bonus section is a little surreal, but other than that it's a good story.
    • Comments: Due to when the story was written there are many aspects that no longer make sense due to canon (how Tommy and Chuckie met, many of Tommy's firsts).

What If They Were Competent? by Mr. Chaos

  • Recommended by fruitstripegum
  • Status: Ongoing
  • Summary: The Stipulation: One chapter a day. 500 words or less. Every episode of Rugrats. The Challenge: What if the adults on Rugrats were actually good parents? Watched their kids? Thought ahead? DIDN'T think it was fine for babies to nearly die every 5 days? Tommy is about to have a very different life with Stu and Didi actually using their brains.

The Missing Colors by Acosta perez jose ramiro

  • Recommended by Tinytooncrazy 86
  • Status: Complete
  • Crossover with Kim Possible.
  • Summary - Team Go got its powers from a rainbow-colored comet, but they only have four colors so, where are the three remaining ones?
  • Comments - A fun crossover between All Grown Up and Kim Possible. Angelica, Tommy, and Chuckie get superpowers from the same meteor that empowered Shego and her brothers, and they soon come under the attention of Kim and Team Go, and start to train as superheroes. Angelica becomes Golden Angel, Chuckie becomes Feline, and Tommy becomes Dynamo. Teams Possible and Go spend a lot of time within both their school life and social life. However, Angelica gets the attention of Shego, who has her own plans for Angelica, forcing her to make a difficult decision. Plenty of exciting scenes with Kim and Team Go interacting with the Pickles family, Angelica out-snarking Bonnie, and Shego training scenes with Angelica.
  • Pairings - Kim/ Ron and Chuckie/Angelica.

The Babies Who Floated Off Into Space by Peter Heardgahna

  • Recommended by Unicorndance
  • Status: Complete
  • Crossover with Star Trek: The Original Series (but only one ending)
  • Summary: N/A
  • Comments: A little surreal, but a very good sci-fi Rugrats story that keeps the babies in-character. The ending that crosses over with Star Trek keeps the characters from that show in character too, and personally I think it's the best ending.

Keep an Eye on the Rugrats, Amelia Bedelia by Dwayne Anderson.

  • Recommended by Unicorndance
  • Status: Complete
  • Crossover with Amelia Bedelia
  • Summary: N/A
  • Comments: A sweet story about Amelia Bedelia babysitting the Rugrats.

Stories focused on the romantic relationships between the cast.
