Fanfic Recs / Baldur's Gate III

Proof that the remaining 10% is worth risking ceremorphosis for.

These are recommendations made by tropers for Baldur's Gate III fanfics, all of which have to be signed to stay on the page. After a few samples, you will be able to note the interests of the tropers recommending them, and judge whether you might be also interested in a certain 'fic.

Some people just don't like it, and as we all know, Shipping is Serious Business.

Reviews of fics are encouraged, but if you choose to write one, please make it substantive, and give specific details about what you liked / disliked in the fic. If you want to give a fic a thumbs-up without writing a full review, you can add your troper handle to the Recommendations Line. Please refrain from posting "Comments" or Conversation in the Main Page though; that goes in the discussion page.

• Synopsis: Give a breakdown of the plot. Do not copy the fic's summary; that's plagiarism and could land the wiki in hot water.
• Pairing(s): List the pairings in the fic. Use the x/y (e.g. Alice/Bob, Charlie/Delilah, etc.) format. If there are no pairings, remove this line.

General Fics

• Synopsis: POV alternates chapters between Astarion and Balalafay (this story's version of Tav), a drow paladin on the run from her abusive-yet-sheltered noble upbringing. The story bills itself as centered on the romance between them, but a significant deal of page space is devoted to banter and bonding among the party as a group, and exploring Balalafay's past as it catches up to them. Notable for the author replacing much of the canon drow lore with their own homebrew.

• Crossover: Final Fantasy XIV
• Synopsis: A traveller is sent on a mission from their home of Amaurot to Baldur's Gate. All is going well until they get abducted by Mind flayers.
• Comments: An interesting take on a crossover story set long before the Final Days featuring a soon-to-be Azem of the Convocation as the current version of Tav (as a Drow) in Faerûn. Do note it may contain spoiler elements of Endwalker, including post-patch 6.0, specifically certain characters from Myths of the Realm.

Weird Psychic Bullshit by Azremodehar

• Crossover with: Fullmetal Alchemist
• Synopsis: It starts with the second-worst day of Edward Elric's life.
• Comments: Edward Elric takes the place of the protagonist in the game's storyline, featuring his culture shock at these people going around looting corpses and just killing random people for small (or no) reasons. It's among the better written fanfics I've read for Baldur's Gate 3 by this point, though the language barrier plotline does get tiring quickly.
