Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V Remake is an Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V AU story, written by mpena23
. This is a 5-part retelling of the ARC-V anime.
Part 1: Standard: "Yusho Sakaki's disappearance from the Championship Match against Strong Ishijima caused severe consequences for his son, Yuya, forcing him to take on the responsibilities of an adult. Three years pass and now Yuya is stronger, smarter and has started walking a path independent of his father. Be greater, be yourself. The journey of Yuya Sakaki begins now."
Part 2: Synchro: "Yuya's journey takes him to the competitive society of the Synchro Dimension. Following a lead from the Maiami Championship, Yuya teams up with a group underappreciated Duelists to find allies to fight against Leo Akaba. However, the Director of Security has plans for Yuya and his friends. Will Yuya and his friends be able to change the City or will the Director get his kingdom?"
Part 3: Xyz: "After defeating Roget, the Dimension Guardians are transported to the Xyz Dimension, where they learn that there are more enemies to face than just Academia. Yuya and the gang must work with the Resistance to not only take back Heartland, but to take back the friends that were lost as well as deal with another war between two worlds that could break the bonds of the Guardians."
Part 4: Fusion: "After saving Heartland, the Dimension Guardians and their allies now take the fight to Academia. Yuya, having inherited the wills of his master and family is determined to stop Leo Akaba with the help of his friends and save all four dimensions. But Leo Akaba is determined to make sure that his plans come to fruition. The Dimensional War finally reaches its climax."
Part 5: The United World: "The Dimensional War is over but there are still loose ends to tie up. Three years have passed and Yuya is about to face his greatest adversary, the one who caused everything to begin, G.O.D. Genesis Omega Dragon. Will our hero have the happy ending he deserves or will his ending be that which was prophesized. The final arc begins now."
This series contains examples of the following Tropes:
- Adaptation Deviation:
- Yuya and his counterparts are brothers in this remake, and they have been brought together from different dimensions by Samejima to form a team called the Dragon Soldiers.
- In the 3-on-3 duel against LDS, Ruri duels Hokuto, Yuzu duels Masumi and Rin duels Yaiba. You Show is able to take the win.
- Jonouchi, Asuka, Rio and Rua make early appearances, for the purpose of forming a team.
- Yuya and his friends are told of the ARC Area Project and Revival Zero much earlier, by Rafael.
- Adaptational Early Appearance: Ruri and Rin are introduced far earlier than in the anime, with Ruri arriving in Standard via a dimensional transport code in her Duel Disk, and Rin via the Momentum Energy in a D-Wheel she attempted to build.
- Adaptational Villainy: Sora never undergoes a Heel–Face Turn here, remaining a psychotic duel soldier devoted to Academia even years after their defeat, his last appearance seeing him attacking Yuya and losing, resulting in Yuya shredding his cards as he can only sit there suffering a Villainous Breakdown.
- Heroic Sacrifice: Yuto, Yugo and Yuri did this to protect Yuya from the Academia soldiers targeting them and allow him to escape to the Standard Dimension.
- Adaptational Backstory Change:
- Crow's backstory is similar to his canon 5D's counterpart, but with the addition of him finding Rin as a baby in a wooden box.
- Adaptation Expansion: The Signers subplot is inserted here, only with Yuya taking Yusei's role and Rin taking Ruka's.
- Adaptation Name Change: Due to the High Council bringing the Lancers (led by Reiji) and the Dimension Guardians (led by Yuya) together, and Reiji later losing the exhibition match, the team is collectively known as the Dimension Guardians.
- Yuya's real name is revealed near the end of Part 2: Yuya Ryuga.
- The Cameo: When the founding Guardians arrive at Bruno's shop, Yusei Fudo is shown walking past them in the background, though they never meet.
- The Leader: After Reiji's brutal loss in the exhibition match of the Friendship Cup against Jack Atlas, Yuya takes the role.
- Mêlée à Trois: This occurs between the Guardians, the Revolutionists and Duel Academia. Neither side wins due to Roget initiating Zero Reverse.
- Trash the Set: Yusho does this to You Show Duel School.
- Adaptation Expansion:
- Astral World and Barian World are included, but without mention of the Numeron Code.
- The Xyz arc in canon lasted for 13 episodes, here the rewrite extends it to 27 chapters.
- Heartland is shown to be working towards recovery at the end of the arc.
- Adaptation Deviation: Sawatari joins Yuya and Reiji as a major character once in Academia territory.
- Back from the Dead: At the climax of the final battle against Leo, Yuya invokes this upon Yuto, Yugo and Yuri via the Legend of Brothers card.
- Time Skip: In the final chapter, a 1-year skip takes place, which happens to be Yuya's birthday.
- God Is Evil: After four books worth of ambiguousness, G.O.D. reveals that they are evil through and through by forcing humans and Duel Monsters to fight each other in a massive war, using Atem and Yuya as batteries to start the war, ensuring that humanity is on the constantly losing side by tying every copy of a card to the Duel Spirit, basically erasing that card from existence when that Spirit dies, and trying to kill humanity because humans are monsters for abusing Duel Spirits even though there are numerous duelists who treat Duel Spirits as partners and lifelong friends.
- Time Skip: Part 5 takes place three years later, with the United World restored.
