Welcome to Bugaria
is an Amphibia and Bug Fables crossover, with the former world replaced by Bugaria as the realm Anne and company are sent to, with Anne eventually joining Team Snakemouth.
This fanfic provides examples of:
- Cassandra Truth: When Anne tells Kabbu that she was just trying to ask Huscada for help, he doesn't initially believe her.
- Continuity Nod: In Chapter 15 Vi and Anne go to a diner and cause a mess. In the next chapter, they find out that they've been banned.
- Composite Character: Several Bugarian characters take on some aspects of the Amphibian ones, like Team Snakemouth replacing the Plantars as Anne's main friends and companions.
- Cuteness Proximity: In this universe Leif finds Domino 2 just as cute as Anne does. Part of it's because he's trying to distract himself from the memories seeing Muze brings up of his wife Muse, but he does genuinely love her, and misses her after she's driven away.
- Fix Fic: The Archive of Our Own tags spoil that the story will be acting as this, especially once the equivalent of season three is reached.
- Fusion Fic: Combines the worlds of Amphibia and Bugaria, mainly by the inclusion of the Calamity Girls and a Bugarian version of the Calamity Box on the Amphibia side, though some Bugaria characters have their roles combined with Amphibia characters.
- Genre Savvy: Anne, having seen plenty of movies, is rightfully wary of the artifact in Snakemouth Den being booby-trapped, but Vi ignores her and grabs it, triggering the room to flood.
- Poor Communication Kills: Anne accepts a quest (well, all the available quests at the time) from a bug named Chuck to make him a "Hearty Breakfast"... only to have to walk all the way to his house to ask him what one is, because he didn't mention it on the quest slip.
- Spotting the Thread: Domino 2's species is still primarily an Amphibivore here according to the piece of paper Libren slips Kabbu (though they're apparently not picky if no amphibians are around), but there's no evidence that amphibians exist in Bugaria. Anne starts to lampshade this before being interrupted.
